With DGPS37 in W3D mode the boat icon on the plotter arrives at a known good waypoint (sumerged pipe seen on the BB sonar). The waypoint was approached at idle speed and the boat was stopped on the waypoint. Problem is the boat icon continues to plot its position beyond the stopped boat for 10-15 seconds. Now the boat is stopped over the pipe but the boats icon, as shown by the plotter, is 100 feet beyond the pipe. All settings have been verified correct by Furuno techs.

n the system setup, under “UNITS” I set
BEARING to “MAG” (magnetic). This will cause the unit to display course /
bearing information in relation to the Magnetic North and match magnetic
compass readings. It is not the same as True North! One has to be careful with
this setting. There are a number of areas where the earth's magnetic field is
locally disturbed, sometimes very significantly. Your GPS may not account for
it.

again, under “UNITS” I set “METRIC”.

sounds like the problem is with the pilot. You may be expecting too much from nav mode
you should check the antenna connector on the WAAS issue
on VX2, are you marking a good bottom on the sonar screen, but have no digital overlaid?
never seen it, must be a BB thing

The wreck is probably off on the chart. The waypoint is inaccurate. There is a delay in the GPS update time, normally. So, test this phenomenon on some other waypoints, like harbor entrances. If my theory that the waypoint is inaccurate is correct, then it will show up by trying the same test on other waypoints.
do you have a WAAS GPS sensor?
