Start with Activating the service diagnostic modes. You can start with the cycle selector knob at any position.

  1. Be sure the washer is in standby mode (plugged in with all indicators off).
  2. Perform the following sequence of movement using the cycle selector knob. NOTE: After reset, sequence "a" through "e" must be completed within 6 seconds. When it tells you to rotate the cycle selector knob, it means 1 click, not a full turn. Once you have completed the cycle knob turns reset and "a" through "e", turn the cycle selector 1 click clockwise from the position it is already in. This is the fault code display mode. Then press the start button. Each time you turn the cycle selector knob 1 click clockwise after pressing start will show you an error code. Note: this washer stores 4 codes if any. The error codes on this washer are displayed in this format: F5 E3, F7 E1, etc. There is an error code chart in the image below.

If there are no error codes stored, I recommend that you start from the beginning (step 1 above) and then run the Automatic test mode. If this unit detects a problem, it will display the error at the end of this test.

Post the results back to me.

PROBLEM RESOLVED!!!

The best I could find by scouring the internet was that it was a communication problem between the central control unit and the electronic control box. I was getting F1 codes that would stop the wash, then diagnostics showed F68 and F41 codes.
Sears wanted to charge $65 just to come out and diagnose it themselves, and these appliance sites wanted to charge their own fees to offer solutions. So I took a chance and ordered a new electronic control box ($146.00 + S&H) and installed it myself.
There are three long screws behind the control unit "hood", in the back-top of the washer, facing straight up and down. After unscrewing, I lifted up the hood up and forward, and there was a black box - the electronic control. First, you should check all the wires and make sure the connections are ok. If that still doesn't fix it, unplug all the wires, and take the electronic control out by unscrewing one 1/4" bolt. Put the new one in and re-wire everything (it shows what wires go where on the electronic control box - named by colors). No more error codes!

This washer is only a year and a half old as well, I guess it will pobably be my last Kenmore/Whirlp

SOURCE: WASHING MACHINE WON'T RESTART!!

try unpluggin unit for 10 or 15 minutes sometimes a computer will lock up. If this doesnt fix it there is a tech sheet located behind the lower removable panel (3 screws down on your knees and look up a little between the door panel and lower panel. Tech sheet can help you with minor problems but be careful parts are expensive and non-refunadable (electrical parts). always disconnect power before working on unit

SOURCE: start button not working on whirlpool cabrio

It sounds like your thermal fuse is out. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter, make sure your dryer is unplugged first! Or you can take the wires off the thermal fuse and use electrical tape to tape them together to see if it will come on.
CLICK HERE for the TECH SHEET on your washer... and HERE to see the thermal fuse.

Sometimes the plastic start button can break a little tab off the back as well, so check it as well.

FL error code generally means 'flood condition' which is telling you the machine is overfilling with water with water.

Try pressing STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

If the condition persists the water fill valve or sensor may be faulty and may need replacement.

F1 in time remaining window

Hi,
The "F1" error code on the Whirlpool cabrio is quite common, and generally has to do with the control board. Replacing the control panel may resolve this issue. However, I believe Whirlpool is aware of the F1 issue with the Cabrio, and is fixing some machines for free. Please call 1-800-253-1301 for more details and see if you are eligible for a free repair.

Thank you !!

Where is the reset button on Cabrio dryer wgd6400sb0 start button keeps flashing and won't start

there is no reset, unplug the unit for 5 minutes, if it still won't start you have a CCU problem, that is the central control board.
