I have a ls2208 symbol scanner that need to scan code 39.... The example below is return when I scan the following information. It seems to be do stange thing with the first 2 charecters. Can you help? Example 1 *$B01 1313* Scanned result returned is 01 1313 Example 2 *%IVORY 6* Scanned Result is >VORY 6

Sometimes it can be something as simple as scanning another code and retrying. Don't forget to scan the save command.

Hello khlai. The quick answer to your question is: Yes. An LS2208 can decode (read) code 39 barcodes. However, since you are reading a barcode on a tape, I would predict that the symbology is actually 'Trioptic Code 39". Trioptic Code 39 is a variant of standard Code 39 that is used for marking computer/tape cartridges. I've uploaded the LS2208 manual to my company's website for you. Just follow these instructions and you'll be right as rain.

1. Go to www.shiftintoblue.com/resources/ls2208_manual.pdf and save the manual to your computer (or print directly from the web.)
2. Go to and print page 194 (12-28) that contains the Trioptic Code 39 barcodes.
3. Take the printed page and scan the barcode labeled "Enable Trioptic Code 39".

This is the quick start guide for the LS2208. On the first page you will see a section titled Carriage Return/Line Feed. Scan these three bar codes from top to bottom. That's it.

Find the following barcodes, print them annd then scan then in this order:

scan options.
data > suffix
Enter.

This should resolve your problem.

It sounds like you need to program a Tab after each scan. You will need to download the manual from www.motorola.com so you can access the setup bar codes.

Your scanner must have been delivered with a "Quick Start Guide".
All you need to do is to scan the following barcodes from thar Guide:
1.Set Defaults
2. Scan Options
3.<Data><Suffix>
4.Enter
5.The barecode for whatever type of connection you use (RS232, Keyboard, etc.)

you should have a code book with the scanner setup barcodes in it, you need to enable code 128 by scanning the appropriate codes in the code book.

At the Symbol web site they have some instuctions for programming a 'Tab' at each scan.
