I have the same problem like you. I take 3 photos with my Nikon D80 and this message came out : ERR ... I have NO idea what should I do ? ! Please help me... Lucas

Make sure you're using the right connector and have it plugged into the bottom port of the D90. Make sure the D90 is NOT set to one of the remote shooting modes.

Not fully. It will work in non-TTL and manual modes, but it will not work in TTL mode. That is, it will work but not in fully automatic like the newer flash units.

First, make sure you're recording sound. In the Shooting Menu, check Movie settings/Sound and make sure it's turned on.

Then, while playing back a video, press zoom-in (the magnifying glass icon) to increase the volume.
