I did a system disk clean up, now i can no longer see my CD/DVD drive when i click My computer.even when i insert a disk it jsut won't show that a disk is inside the disk drive.
Please follow the steps given here; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
1) Uninstall the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager and DO NOT RESTART the computer. 2) Uninstall your CD burning software (make sure you have the installation disc or you can resinstall from Start, Programs, PC Help and Tools, Recovery Manager (or Driver/Application Recovery). If you don't have the installation discs, skip this step - it might still work). 3) Open the registry editor (Start -> Run -> enter Regedit) ... might want to make a backup of the registry at this point. 4) Open the following keys: 5) Select 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318. It has to be this exact key - make sure you can see the last numbers!!! 6) Delete the UpperFilter and or the LowerFilters value in the right window if either exists. 7) RESTART the computer - this step is important. Wait for Windows to find and install the CD/DVD drive you removed earlier. 8) Reinstall your burning software and restart the computer again.

Right-click on Drive A. You will see the option to format the drive.
Click on Format. Depending on your operating system, you will see an option that reads either "Create a system disk" or "Create a MS Dos system disk." Click the box next to this option.
Click the "Start" button to begin formatting the disk.
Open the software that you use to burn or write files to the CD-rom or DVD drive.
Click on "Make a Data CD or DVD." Insert a blank CD-R or DVD-R disk into the drive.
Look for the option to "Make this disk bootable." You may have to scroll over the various icons displayed to find this option. Click on the option.
Burn the CD or DVD as usual. Once completed, this disk can be used to boot your computer.
When completed, you will have a bootable floppy disk.
