Hello,

Go to your drive C:, right-click, scroll down to "properties".

An option will pop-out. Look towards the down part and select Compress...... Then click "this"< then "OK".

This will compress your hard-drive and give you more space.

I hope you understand this.

Good luck.

if you have to little space on your C partition you can resize it, if you using vista.

1. right click on my computer->manage
2. choose storage->disk management
3. right click on the C volume and extend volume
4. put more space on C and then OK. that should solv your problem

you can also move your swap file to D: that gonna save some space on C.
1. rightclick on computer ->properties
2. click advanced system settings
3. click on the advanced tab settings on performance.
4. choose advanced tab->change
5. click on D: and write a custom size(it should be double of your amount of ram)
6. click set
7. then click C in same window and choose "no paging file"
8. click set and ok, then restart your computer.

Unless I am mistaken, the D drive or partition is the partition that contains the restore feature for yor laptop. This may or may not be hidden system files. As far as the available free space on your C drive, you WILL need to either delete files and/or backup and delete files. Image files, music files, cookies temp files take up a lot of disk space. Try this and I think you will find more free space. BPCS

SOURCE: Desperate for C:drive space!!

unfortunatly u cant expand a hard drives allocated space past its original limitations. your only options are to buy a new 2.5'' hard drive, a external hard drive or a cheap secure digital card. u can pick sd card up for around £4 a 1gb.
look in second hand electrical retailers for cheap options.

hope that helps.

SOURCE: MY LAPTOP IS DOING NOTHING BECAUSE MY C DRIVE IS

If you don't care about your data and don't need to back anything up, you can reinstall windows straight from the disc you have. If you do care about your data, you'll have to hook up another drive. Unfortunately, it seems like your problems are beyond the point of just hooking up a drive and copying files.

I'll give you two parts. First, how to reinstall windows. Second, how to copy files. Once again, if you care about your data you should skip down to the second part now.

1. Put your windows cd into your drive and reboot. Your screen should pop up with a message that says "Press any key to boot to cd." If it does not, reboot again, and this time go to your Setup screen. This is usually done by pressing the "F2" key or "DEL" key initially upon booting. Once you are in your setup screen, you need to change the Boot order to go to CD before it goes to Hard Disk.

Once you've booted up to your cd, you will be run through a windows installer that will let you partition and reformat your computer to do a new installation of windows.

2. The best way to copy your files when your hard disk fails or you can't recognize drives is to run a live version of linux. Ubuntu is what I use. Don't be scared now! Linux is very user-friendly, graphical, and easy to navigate these days. You don't need to know any code to run it or use it. You will need to download Ubuntu Linux on another machine and burn the CD, as I assume your computer won't handle downloading and burning a cd image. Once you have your Ubuntu CD, all you do is reboot with it in your drive and choose to Try the live version of Ubuntu. This will not take up any hard drive space and it won't overwrite your files. Ubuntu will simply be running in your memory space and allow you to access your computer and external drive so you can backup your files.

Good luck!

SOURCE: acer 5315 HD C is full HD D empty

Very likely the answer is yes, IF: 1) there is enough space and 2) that D drive is not being used for something else. Check on what is on the D drive. It's usually reserved by the manufacturer and contains OS restore files (used for restoring your system after a crash). Don't delete these, but if there is enough free space, just create a new folder and put your files in there.

How do I download from disc to Acer Aspire one

Hello,

If you need to load software(such as device drivers) from Optical Media) in a system without an ODD Drive, follow these steps:

1. Log in to another PC in your vicinity that has an Optical Disk Drive.
2. Insert the CD/DVD into the PC and copy its' contents over to that PC.
3. Copy over that content to a USB Storage Device (USB Drive, External HDD, etc).
4. Unplug the External HDD/USB Drive with the content from the PC and plug it in your Laptop/Netbook.
5. Copy over the relevant content over to the netbooks' hard drive.

Alternatively, download the needed drivers from Acer's support website.

No bootable device on my acer net book

HI There,

I recommend you find a friend with an external CD/DVD drive. You'll need to have an XP Installation disc and boot from the disc from the external drive. Let the disc run through Setup until you reach the point where you can choose the R key for Repair.

At this point you'll be shifted to a DOS Prompt Command Cursor. Type (all in capitals) FIXMBR. Shut down the computer, disconnect the external drive. Start the computer and if your hard drive is not dead you'll have fixed your Master Boot Record and you should start normally.

Regards,

Selk

Hi my acer aspire 1 a0531h won't boot up!!!! when i switch it displays the acer logo then goes to a black screen with a white flashing cursor in the top left hand corner... i have no boot up disc as...

when the Acer logo comes up, press Delete (if not delete check the text at the bottom of the screen for the button corresponding to setup) and set the hard disk drive as the primary boot device

if the Hard Drive is set to primary (or referred to as 1st boot device) just leave the laptop at the blinking white curser.. it may just take a while to load if new hardware is found.

Low disk space and I did clear files.

Low disc space really means nothing, but low disc space.

I understand you have cleared your files, but your going to have to remove more....if you have excessive music, pictures, and videos...try backing them up to a DVD or flash drive, then deleting them off of the computer.

If you cannot seem to clear anymore space the next thing to do would be purchasing an external hard drive. This way you can save files on that drive while not adding anymore to the current drive. You can view some external hard drives here

Low disc space

That means that your hard drive is full and it would be best if you transfer some or delete some files.

System Restore

Recovery procedure for Acer netbooks.

Important Information

The Recovery disc will help you to restore the hard drive with the original software content that was installed when you purchased your notebook. Follow the steps below to rebuild your hard drive. Your drive will be reformatted and all data will be erased. It is important to back up all data files before you use this option.

Restoration procedure:

1. Press the power button to turn the system on.

2. Select to boot from a USB optical drive. There are two ways to do this:

2.1. Press <F2> during the Power-On Self-Test (when the Acer logo is displayed onscreen after bootup) to enter BIOS Setup.

2.1.1. Select the Boot menu.

2.1.2. Refer to onscreen instructions to set the first device to any bootable optical disc drive.

2.2. Press <F12> during the Power-On Self-Test (when the Acer logo is displayed onscreen after bootup), and select the USB ODD from the list that appears.

3. Ensure the Recovery disc is in an external (USB) optical disc drive, and exit the boot selection menu, by selecting Exit Saving Changes from the Exit menu or pressing <F10>, or by pressing <Enter> as appropriate.

4. Select Exit Saving Changes from the Exit menu or press <F10>.

5. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation process.

6. When you finish the recovery process, please remove the Recovery disc and insert the System disc again.

7. Restart your computer.

Toshiba 2 gb flash drive showing 0 disk space

You can only format these drives in mode FAT16 or FAT32.
Try to format it in FAT32 mode and let Windows choose the default sectors for you. This is the better solution.
As I can see, the operating system recognise your drive that mean the correct driver was loaded.
After a new format whith the correct params if your flash drive shows the same thing 0 disk space 0 disk space used, your drive is DEAD.
It happens if you had unplug your flash drive whithout stoping it by cliking on the icon in the notification window (near the clock), the icon is mini drive whith a green arrow. Allways unplug the USB devices by this because you have the +5 voltage on this connector and if you don't do this an arcking effect happens betwen your device and the connector.
