Oven does not maintain temperature while cooking. Oven will come on and preheat as it should but then temperature drops while cooking and remains below preheat value. Every 15 minutes or so we set the temperature to 5 degrees higher and wait for the preheat just to keep it going. The self clean function and broil work OK. I have changed both the thermocouple and the control board.

GE oven temperatures range 25 degrees above what is set to 25 degrees below what is set - all during the same cooking cycle - replaced thermostat - did not help.

I eventually replaced the oven ignitor. That has solved the problem.

Oven won't hold temperature.

If oven is electric pleace check that the heating elements are ok, could be that only one or two elements could be the only heaters hence luck power to maintain temparature when open or gets too slow to preheat.

Preheat a oven

preheating gives u prepare temperature of oven for some specific cooking
Don't leave the oven door open too long when putting the food in because the temperature will drop a little but that is not horrible and shouldn't be a cause of great concern. Each time you open the oven door the temperature will drop a little.

The oven preheats, but then "cools down" before I

Most likely the problem is your bake element. When the oven is preheating it uses both the bake and the broil element. When it's done preheating it uses only the bake element, so the broil element is heating it up, and since the bake element is not working the temperature drops until it starts preheating again.

Oven temperature fluctuates.Oven heats to correct temp on preheat, but as the food cooks the temperature drops.

5 yr old Jenn Air Electric oven won't maintain oven temperature

Technician just left our house with same issue. Jenn-Air had issued a technical bulletin as the temperature probe is mounted directly to the heating element, and measures the heat of the element, not the oven. Their fix is a revised temperature probe that goes at a 90 degree angle away from the heating element.

If your temperature is consistent, just off by a set amount of degrees, there is an adjustment you can make at the control panel.

CRG9700 - OVEN TEMPERATURE BIG FLUCTUATIONS

biggest issue with any gas oven is a faulty ignitor, not maintaining oven temp, too long to preheat, taking too long to cook, possible slight gas smell during operation, all signs of a bad ( or going bad) ignitor

Amana Convection oven not controlling temp

I have just checked the baking guide in the manual and have found that it may not be us after all. (Maybe this is why they telll us to read the whole manual. Well, I never have) According to the cooking time for Baking, the range is very extensive. For example, an angel cake at 350 could take from 28-50 minutes, buscuits at 375-400 could take 8-16 minutes, layer cakes at 350-375 could take 25-40 minutes, pound cakes at 325-350 could take 45-70 minutes and fresh pies at 400-450 could take 35-60 minutes. Basically, the baking directions on the box means absolutely nothing to use Amana oven owners. We have no choice but to cook our food or baked goods until they are cooked, whenever that may be. :) Linda
