This TV has no guns. It has a lamp and a color wheel.
Owner reported model number as: lg ru-44sz61d dlp. Pay particular attention to the "dlp" part.

I do not know what is causing the issue unfortunately.

There are a few malfunctions that can cause such.

ONE: Mirrors out of location. But it usually throws the picture off center, also. This can be caused if the set is dropped or kicked badly.

TWO: Out of focus. Can be caused by drift of the circuits or from a malfunction of the video drivers. You can check this by going to the crosshairs and see if the lines are sharp and narrow. If not, then the focus is off badly - most likely the blue gun. You may be able to set the focus and other levels for brightness and contrast and color to optimize this weakness as these are all somewhat interrelated, especially in the extreme settings. You can make adjustments for these above what is available from the OSD by getting into the service mode. See this web site for instructions on how to enter it. http://www.fixyourowntv.com/servicemenu.php

THREE: Worst case is the blue gun or projection tube is failing and needs replaced - which I don't recommend due to the very high cost of doing so.

FOUR: And it is possible the blue gun/tube has been knocked out of alignment by dropping or moving the set.

I favor the focus adjustment as the first remedy to try. You can do that yourself. But if it turns out the mirror is out of location or the blue gun is defective you will need a technician for help on those items.

DLP Proj TV RU-44SZ61D - Replaced fan. Temp light blinks once when lamp starts and then lamp shuts off. Then temp light blinks once (rest) twice (rest) until the fan turns off. Any ideas?

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Replacing the lamp module on a LG Projection TV, model 44SZ61D

Vacuum out any dust that is in the Lamp compartment.Do not touch the lamp with your hands or fingers. Use a cloth or gloves. The oil from your skin will cause the lamp to prematurely burnout.Similar to handing a Halogen Lamp.

I have an LG DLP. that turns off after 15 -30 seconds

If the second light is blinking to orange or red, that is usually the lamp indicator light on an LG DLP tv. That indicates your bulb needs replaced, or something surrounding the bulb has failed (like the cooling fan for the bulb for example) IF you have a spare bulb handy, I'd replace the bulb, keeping in mind if you touch any part of a new bulb with your bare hands, you just cut the life of the bulb by more then half.

Lg 42 inch projection tv has green light and orange light

It is a possibility, if the indicator lights are on it definitely means something is wrong in the light engine system, it could be your lamp, ballast, color wheel or dmd board, when it comes to LGs it's most probable that your lamp might go out. You can replaced it to see if it fixes your problem, if it doesn't, there's a chance it might be yoru ballast.

I have been having the same issue with mine. After reading this solution, I tried just this... I pulled out the bulb holder (with bulb) and shook it. Once I put it back in it worked. My LG is not quite 3 years old but I first had this issue about 7 months in with increased frequency of the problem.
