I have done my laptop fixed due to my DRM had shut down(he said), but when I started to open my vaio, all my pictures and files were gone, even some software that I had downloaded before, what to do?i really need help, i need those pictures, it's memories.
Advise you to go back and ask exactly what the tech did to fix the problem. It may be that the pics and files are not recoverable. In the future I highly recommend either having two hard drives in your computer - one for your operating system and one for your files or partitioning your single hard drive into two logical ones to keep you operating system and files separate.
Then, most importantly, back your files (evn if it's jsut your most important ones) up regularly even if it's just copying them onto a thumb drive (aka usb drive), writing them to a CD, syncing them to a google drive or even just emailing them to yourself.
No need to back up the operating system files as I've yet to see anyone reinstall a an operating system from a backup.

Try this: Reboot and select Recovery Mode, then from the c:\windows prompt type: chkdsk
Let it run through checkdisk then try it should boot up.

Hi,
This problem is generally caused by a hanging program or the registry is corrupt.
The best way i have found to resolve the problem is download a small program called "Superfast", not only does it shut XP down it does it in half the normal time and doesn't effect the computer in any way.
Download and install Superfast here >>>>>>>>>>

Once you have it installed try it, you'll be amazed!!!
Regards.

Hi there,
Which is the operating system?
we need to see why it only works in safe mode - have a look in device
manager
start>
control panel>
system>
hardware tab>
device manager button>
also any ! X or ?
------------------------
you may be able to do a recovery
start>
programs>
accessories>
system tools>
recovery>
see if you can go back to before you had the problem
what does last known good configuration do
have you got any keys stuck on keyboard - like F8
if new maybe worth sending it back under warranty.
