The cable for the monitor has to plug into the desktop. So it's a VGA cord or DV Cord depending on the type of video card you have on your desktop. Some have a built in VGA port. Make sure you connect this to your desktop.

I getting message that attachment cant be opened due to dialouge box being open but unable to close or see attachment i received from email through yahoo.com/mail

Hi there!
It must be a dialogue box being open on your computer somewhere, but it hidden so you can see it. The easy way is log off or restart you computer to clear it. Or you can go to Task Manager and End the task that you think a dialogue box.
Hope this will help.

My dell inspiron 530 shows a block with red, white, green, and read, can't get to the my programs????

That "red white green and blue" block is a color pattern tester. that means the monitor is on, but is not receiving a signal, so its running tests. If your monitor has Digital input and VGA input, you may just need to switch inputs. Look for 1 or VGA if youre using the blue hook up. look for 2 or digital or dvi if youre using the larger white hook up. Some monitors also have 'auto detect'. If you are in "auto detect' bbut the color box is still there, then your monitor is not receiving video signal from the computer. It could indicate a bad cable or no signal being sent by the machine. If you try another monitor, you can see if the machine is working. I would try a monitor setting for VGA-1 first, since thats most common.

How do i get the monitor to work if i didn't change the settings on the 1st monitor

Assuming that you've just added a second monitor.

You need to go into the Display Settings, or Display Properties dialogue box.

In there go to the Settings tab.

You'll see two squares marked 1 and 2. select the second one, then lower down on the dialogue box you'll see a checkbox to enable "Extend my Desktop to this Monitor"

Check it and you're good.
With your mouse you can select each monitor, and drag them around to adjust how your two desktop displays will seem together, higher lower, left or right side. Experiment till you're comfortable.

Hope this helps.

Reformatted my laptop. now it wont let me online says i have no modem and i am using a wireless laptop as well

Right click on my computer, go to properties. Click the tab marked hardware. You will see a new window open up. check this window for any exclamation marks, question marks, red x's etc. This is all of the drivers for your computer. Drivers are software that make the hardware work properly. It is a possibility that a driver is missing with the problem you described. Hope this helps.

HP Pavilion M9040N Elite, power lights come on, will not boot

unhook everything that is hooked to it ! Except the keyboard mouse and Display. now try it ! If that doesn't work try to start in safe mode then do a system Restore to an earlier date. there could be a number of things to cause this even a mouse, So one at a time try to remove all that you can and then go from there and one at a time hook all back up until you find it. if not there have to start inside the machine, Doing the same thing/ video, sound,cd roms/floppy/etc.hope you find it in the first round.

Dialogue box in the middle of the screen

Out of range usually means that the computer is trying to use a resolution that is unsupported by the monitor. Try loading the PC in safe mode (for windows, press F8 before windows loads) and change the desktop resolution to 800x600, which is supported by pretty much any monitor. Restart the computer normally and you should get your video. Once inside windows you can experiment with different resolutions, and when it goes out of range, just wait 15 seconds for it to go back to 800x600.

How to connect a sony monitor no tv tuner to a cable box

It's unlikely that you'll be able to use a computer monitor as a television.

Cable boxes have specific outputs, and computer monitors have specific inputs. They generally don't align with one another.

However, your monitor may have VGA inputs on it, and your cable box may have a VGA output (though unlikely).

If you can provide the model number of your cable box, and your monitor, I'll be able to help you more.

No Display on connecting Data cable of PC

The Monitor is bad, with the CRT Monitors you cannot just replace the connections, because it is embedded into the CRT. So it is probably something that lies with in the monitor itself. Try to connect another monitor to the device. See what the result is, my best guest is the CRT Monitor when bad. Time to replace! Sorry!
