Yamaha RX-V2400 I have a Yamaha RX-V2400 AV Receiver Ser. No. Y194302VX When I turn it on, it comes on as it always has but it automatically shuts off in less than 5 seconds. If I turn it right back on, it shuts off even quicker. I have it completely disconnected from all speakers and components now and it still comes on and shuts off automatically. What do you recommend?

I've been having the same problem .
Over the last few days, my receiver (Yamaha RX-V2400) has begun suddenly switching off while I'm listening to music, watching TV, etc.  It doesn't matter what the input or volume level is, although if the input volume level suddenly jumps (e.g. gunshot on a soundtrack)  or if I raise the volume on the receiver, it will definitely turn right off.  And when I switch the receiver back on, it switches off immediately.


I checked the troubleshooting section of the manual and it seems as though a protection circuit is being activated.  I have the impedance on the receiver set to 'minimum 8 ohms' (the other option is 'minimum 6 ohms').  I tried both settings and had the same results.  I also checked all speaker wires and nothing seems to be touching.  


Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.  This sucks.

I'm also having the same problem. I took the receiver back to where I bought it and they shipped it to an authorized Yamaha repair place. After 2 weeks I got a phone call from the store telling me that that they were told by the authorized Yamaha repair place that they could find nothing wrong with the receiver and that it is working fine. They shipped it back to the store. I picked it up yesterday. However when I plugged it in, I got nothing. No power at all. I took the unit to a local repair shop and they are going to check it out. I'll keep you posted. Has anyone out there contacted Yamaha about getting a replacement? I have only had my unit for less than 3 years and have loved it. Until now. I'm also having the same problem. receiver overheats it automatically shuts off. I had foolishly stacked
a couple of components on top, not allowing enough space for
ventilation and didn't realize how hot it was getting. I've since had
a custom cabinet built, the receiver sits alone on a shelf with plenty
of airspace and I've had no problems since. I found the source of the problem - or my problem anyway: when the receiver overheats it automatically shuts off. I had foolishly stacked a couple of components on top, not allowing enough space for ventilation and didn't realize how hot it was getting. I've since had a custom cabinet built, the receiver sits alone on a shelf with plenty of airspace and I've had no problems since.

I have the same problem with my yamaha rx-v3300 which i have had for 3 or more yrs. Find that the power tends to shut off quicker when the sound field is set for dolby digital or enhanced digital so ive been setting it on the non-dolby tv/sports variety setting and it seems to stay on longer. Read the same material in the manual about the circuitry protection triggering due to heat so im trying to ventilate the cabinet box to see if that resolves the problem. Really like the receiver and not ready to junk it just yet so if anybody else has a solution other than that please respond. Thanks guys!!
