Fridge leaking inside top

My fridge is leaking from the holes in the top inside behind the light. What do I need to do to make it stop?

Stick something long, flexible and thin down the drain hole to unglog any debris. An open tie wrap works well. Just to clear the drip catch and top portion of the drain tube.

If that doesn't work you'll have to remove the tube and clear it.

It sounds as though you have a clogged drain.you will need to defrost for 24hrs for good results.also you could have a seal problem near your airflow vent in ref.compartment in this case you would need to contact your local tech.

Leaking inside refridgerator

Most likely the defrost drain is filled with gunk. You'll find the drain behind the back wall inside the freezer. It will be located under the evaporator coils. Make sure there is no ice in the tray under the coils,if there is then clear this away with some hot water and locate the drain hole. This hole is for the water that runs off while fridge is in defrost. Pour hot water into this hole and work a stiff wire(clothes hanger) up and down inside this hole until water drains. This should fix your problem.

WHY IS THERE WATER LEAKING INSIDE THE REFRIGERATOR

generally water leaks on top mount freezer types when the defrost tube is plugged. The automatic defrost system works to keep humidity from blocking air flow across the evaporator(behind the back freezer panel) If it can not drain you will see it as water dripping from the top of the fridge section and water under the crispers.......Clean the drain tube under the evaporator of ice(poke a hole in evaporator and you are buying a fridge)........hope this helps

Water leaking from inside the fridge

Clear ice build up from drain plug using hot water in a syringe. Works well I just did mine. Located behind access panel inside fridge. Blue tube running down the back. Pull down and remove ice from the drain at the top.

My fridge is leaking water inside of the main fridge compartment. It is coming from the top and I can see water dripping out of one the hole. There are two small one inch square holes near the back top...

The defrost drain hole is frozen over.
When your fridge goes into defrost mode the water has no where to go but inside the fridge, not down the drain hole.
Turn the fridge off for 24 hours and open the doors. Let it defrost naturally to clear it out.

Fridge is dripping directly onto top shelf. It is

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back/bottom of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curtain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the fridge is because the water has been leaking into the freezer and down the vent into the fridge instead of running into the drain hole...Please feel free to comment again if you have any other question. Water leaks from top mounted freezer area into the refrigerator

Remove the food from the freezer and the icemaker if equiped . Remove the air tower at the rear of the freezer section and remove the rear panel inside the freezer . Using a hair dryer to the drip pan , below the coils ( probably ice ) , starting at the center , defrost until you see the drain hole . Keep defrosting the hole ( hot water helps ) until water starts to flow down . Using a short piece of hose , insert it into the drain hole and blow . This should blow out any debris inside the drain hole . I would use a short piece of solid ALUMINUM wire ( 14-16 guage about 8 " long ) striped of all insulation , and insert it into the hole as far as possible , without any force . Wrap the other end about 1--1 1/2 turns around the black tube ( defrost heater ) above the hole . When the heater comes on , heat will transfer to the aluminum wire and keep the drain from freezing up again . Reasemble back panel , air tower , and , icemaker . Reinstall the food and its FIXYA'd .

I have a GE TBX25PAXCRWW top mount freezer model. It is leaking water from the light switch. I would assume it is a blocked evap line. Do I access it from the insde of the freezer or outside.

Your problem is a clogged defrost drain . This is accessed from inside the freezer section and by removeing the rear freezer panel . Use a hairdryer to defrost the pan , under the coils . Also , the drain line for your model , is located behind the refrig . So , you only have a short area between the drain hole and drain line , to clear . I would suggest blowing thru the drain hose behind the refrig also , to make sure it is clear .

LG model GR-620RW leaking water inside at back top

Same issue with water leaking. Fan slowed and allowed ice to block drain..., defrost caused ice dam under heat shield. (behind freezer fan shroud at bottom, below condenser) Ice dam lifted heat shield until it dislodged the condenser, which slid down and melted the plastic liner when the defrost came on. QC! Fixable..., but could have been avoided by mounting the condenser so it couldn't shift or drop in transit.
New fan and heat shield needed now..., and more groceries!
