I have opened the lid and cannot see any obstructions. I have removed and reinstalled the cartridges themselves
We have several of these in our company and the most common "Carriage Jam" cause is a glob of black ink in the bay on the right side. Once glob is removed, and "Carriage Jam" message appears again, press OK, and it prints fine from then on. Today the black ink glob was flat on top. Watch out for leaky cartridges, as the design of the particular HP device provides a nice catch pan for the tri-color ink cartridge, but not for the black one, so a leaky cartridge, besides being expensive and wasteful, can goop up the bay causing the carriage jam error message to try to get you to take a closer look.
My pad in ink bay was out of position.your ink bay is were your ink cartridge rests (home position) pad can be accessed through bottom. remove bottom smaller panel one screw (allen)i turned mine around and used fresh side, works great!!
Usually when the printer displays a carriage jam error the carriage assembly is jamming along the carrige path.
There may be something in the carriage path that or the carriage shaft may need lubricating.
Check the area where the carriage is has stopped. There might be an obstruction visible or use compressed air blower to blow the carriage path to remove any obstruction .hope this helps
I went to hp.com and selected the support and drivers option on the top bar and did an online chat with a technician. I had to go through a number of steps, but the problem seems to be solved for the moment. Good luck.

I'm having the same problem with the carriage jam message popping up on the screen and not allowing me to print. However, there seems to be nothing obstructing the carriage!
