I have a Fossil AM3982, ladies watch. The numeral 2 at the 12 position has come off and is floating around. I have removed the back and the plastic insulator exposing the battery. now how do I remove the stem to remove the works to gain access to the face?
Thanks Joe
There is a tiny point (end of small metal piece called setting lever) on the left side of the stem (on watch movement, very close where the stem is entering the movement).
You have to push that point down with a metal pin or tweezers. Crown (winder) must be pushed in to normal position otherwise you will not be able to put the stem back properly.
So, do as follows:
1) Push the crown in,
2) Lay the watch down on flat surface and push on setting lever point,
3) While holding setting lever pushed in- extract the setting lever by gently pulling crown out of watch.
Do not forget to rate, please.
I have pulled the crown by force With out pushing on the stopper with tweezers. How do I return the crown now. Or have I damaged the watch totally?
There are three positions for the Carrera's push-down crown. The inner position is used for normal wear and winding. To wind the crown manually, simply rotate it clockwise.
Changing the date on the Carrera is done from the middle crown position. Turn the crown clockwise to advance the date, one day at a time. Push the crown back to the inner position when finished.
The outer crown position is used for setting the time. You can turn the crown in this position either clockwise or counter-clockwise. Adjust the time forward or backwards. Setting the time backwards will not damage the watch. When the time is correct, press the crown all the way into the inner position.
