1. Unplug the printer completely. Move the ink cartridge cradle gently to the left. Over to the right at it's usual resting place you will see a small pad about 1cm square. This pad and the area around should be covered with ink. Get a microfibre cloth and press down on this pad - it's not fixed so should come away with the cloth, otherwise use tweezers gently. Squeeze the pad several times between your thumb and forefinger while inside the microfibre cloth to remove ink build up. Then when not much ink comes out on the cloth, clean the area in the printer around the pad so that looks free from ink too. Then position the pad back in place, move the cradle back into position, plug in and switch on - should work fine now. But it's worth checking for any paper caught near the ink pad as my error occured after a paper jam. Good luck :)

Make sure to clean all the parts thoroughly.

My os is windows 7, and my printer is canon bjc 2100sp. the printer is cannot print

The latest driver Canon produce for this printer is for Windows XP, you can get it from here:-

http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0000397.asp

I would suggest trying this, if it proves no good, I think you may have trouble finding one for Win7.

My cannon BJC-2100 series gives me error 5C00 when trying to print

The error you are getting refers to the cartridge movement. You need to open the printer so you can see the cartrige and the track it rides on. Make sure that the cartriges can move freely with no obstructions. If the cartridges can move freely and there is nothing blocking the path this will require a pro. If nothing is stopping the movement than another component went out that controls the movement of the heads.

When I looked up the error online it says this is a cleanig error and just to Make sure no obstructions are blocking the cartridge movement, if not needs service.

Printer problem

I found a small plastic "clip" of the type that covers the print-head of a cartridge in the mechanism where the printhead/inkcartridge is mounted. I have no idea where it came from nor how long it had been in there but the printer works OK after I removed it.
