I had my phone for 2 years and planned on using it until it quit working. i was using it one night before bed and i put it on the charger the next morning i turned it on the power button/ call button lights up but the screen stays black i was just wondering if it could be a simple cheap fix or to trash it the main reason i want it to come back on is because i had my contacts and pictures on it and did not own a micro sd card

Its a screen light problem I guess. Have the screen replaced and your phone is back to normal. Instead of trashing it, you can put it on say at ebay. http://deviceteck.com http://deviceteck.com/

SOURCE: My phone keeps saying insert smart chip

attempt to take the SIM card out and gently wipe it off (pay especial detail to the copper connectors on the under-side.) after that, give a gentle blow to the recieving area for the sim on the phone and place the sim back in the phone, power up, and hopefully this problem will be solved. this issue occurs often to myself and this seems to be a very simple solution.

SOURCE: Screen does not show picture.

You have a bad LCD Screen! Your touch screen is good. I have found a good tutorial to walk you through changing out the screen. You can find a replacement LCD screen on eBay. I will copy and paste the tutorial here for you and also include the link for future reference. These are not hard to replace, just exercise patience. You do not feel comfortable doing it yourself, you can email us and we'll quote you a price for the screen plus labor to do it for you.

The copy and pasted version of the tutorial:
I recently cracked the LCD on my new Xenon. I found a replacement LCD on ebay, but I was unable to find any information on how to take the phone apart. I figured my way through it and thought I should post something someplace so others can find it.

This probably voids your warranty... You need good eye sight and be prepared to drop microscopic screws that you need to chase after. Pretty much the only tool you need is a small philips eye glass screw driver and a small flat screw driver or pry device. I noticed some kits on ebay that include a pry tool and a t6 torx driver, but my xenon is all philips not torx screws...

- First remove the battery
and sim.
- Remove the 6 screws around the outside of the back of the phone and a seventh screw behind where the battery rests.
- The plastic colored part of the phone can now be removed from the phone body. There are some plastic clips that snap it in, so it will take some prying to get it free. But don't break it.
- You can unplug the flat cable that runs from the screen half of the phone to the phone motherboard. Simply pry it up with your finger nail away from the circuit board.
- There are three buttons on the side of the phone, the volume rocker, camera
, and lock button that you should take not of, mine fell our and I had to put them back in. Also, there is a rubber knob on the end of the SD slot and USB port covers that snap into the housing that might come dislodged and need to be reset.
- There are two sets of four screws that attach the screen half of the phone to the rails it slides on.
- After these screws are removed you can seperate the two halves, notice the spring that locks in place in two oblong holes (one on each half of the phone, screen and keyboard.)
- There are six screws on the back of the screen, three are covered by plastic circles that need to be pried free. They are just glued in place.
- Now you can remove the back, which again requires some prying to snap it free.
- The screen has two pieces of black tape holding it into the phone body and it also has the cable going to the ear piece taped to the back of the screen in two places.
- Once all the tape is free you can unplug where the earpiece cable connects to the circuit board by the mouth piece.
- The connector for the LCD screen is different then the others so far. This on is not a snap down plug, it is more like a ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) connector. However, when I tried to hinge open the white part that clamps the ribbon down I broke mine. So perhaps this is not a ZIF. Maybe a Some Insertion Force connector? I just unplugged the old cable by pulling it out and pushed the new cable in. My screen still works with the partially broken clamp. Hopefully someone else figures this part out better then I did.
- The ear piece contains a magnet that likes to attach to the back of the LCD. Make sure you get everything seated before you try and snap it back together.

Screen stays black

There are two possible causes of the problem:

1. Power issue - the battery could have a problem and it could only give power when you turn on the phone, but it could no longer provide ENOUGH power to make the phone works for couple of hours.

2. Firmware/Software issue - this is a common symptoms if an electronic device has a corrupted firmware or software.

You may try to replace the battery first, and see if that's causing the problem. If same problem occur, then you need to contact the manufacturer and have them re-program the phone. And that should work correctly.

Thank you and good luck!
