I am using 2gb memory card in my phone. I used BitLocker function in Windows 7. Now my memory card doesn't open and can't be formatted. When I open the card, the message

Formatting memory is displayed. Then the message Formatting memory incomplete is shown. When the Memory card is connected, the status bar displays message status Not Encryptable for my 2gb memory card

SOURCE: memory card not formating

first check to see that it is not write protected (flip the switch on the side). if you cannot read from it and it still will not format, then it has probably been exposed to a static charge and is dead.

SOURCE: i'm using for sand disk

Hello,

I've been encountering this issue. The problem may come from the card reader or the card holder. If possible, use a different card holder and of problem persists, try a different card reader or test on another computer.

Hope this helps!!

SOURCE: genx pe4ndrive.when I insert in lap top click to open it is displays not formatted.when I clic formatting button it is displayed that i will loose all memory of pen drive it's data.

Try it on an other computer... if that fails, it might have developed bad sectors (spots) reformat and do a scan, which writes and reads all memory locations... might be corrupted and/or broken, but try another computer first to make sure it is not a driver issue.

My memory card doesn't store more than 2gb

Your file system is some FAT 32 (or some FAT modification). It has limitation. Limit is on 4 GB but sometimes can be less. You must convert it to NTFS system. You can use Exporer for that purpose (righ click on drive and Properties), or format it with NTFS option. But with NTFS lot of cheap devices will not work (they must pay to Microsoft lot of patents for compatibility). Windows or Linux has not problem with that kind of memory card.

You might be using a memory card with a larger capacity than your device can use. But as you haven't given any details regarding the make and model of device it's impossible to be certain.

One thing is certain though: FAT is a Windows formatting system. Just because they use it, it doesn't follow that other devices do; most cameras and phones use their own proprietary formatting system. To be safe, NEVER format memory cards in anything other than the device they're intended for, you can ruin them for use in anything other than a pc.
