Zune freezes and says contact support

I just bought a new 120gb zune and installed the drivers and software up date but now when i plug it in it just charges for 5 mins and then says contact support. also had the same problem with ma 30 gb zune which is y a bought the new any 1 help with this problem.

    I had purchased a zune 120 GB close to a month ago in the US. I am in India now and will not be travelling for a while to the US. My Zune was working fine until one fine day, it my brother was playing around with it and he pressed the BACK (<= ) button a few times as he was trying to navigate a few screens to the back while watching a movie.
    then the Zune hung for a while and it remained so for a while. after a while i got the "Error 5" meesage and it says "Contact Support". I am also not able to connect it to the PC, as it says "USB device not recognised"
    Appreciate if someone could help me on this.

    mp3 doctor ur soultion fine if ur in the us but dosen't wrk outside u think i was stupid enough wen it said contact support not 2 try tht cme on

    My mom bought me a zune and over a year it worked fine but a few weeks ago it sudenly stops working :S now says "contact suppor with a gray circle 5" damn!!!!! now what i see is that i got to spend over $160 to fix it :O no way i better switch to ipod

In order to fix this . you have to restart the device. to restart the device you press and hold back while also pressing and holding the top part of the zune pad until screen goes blank and zune logo appears this should work. if contact support comes back up try restoreing the device.

for more info on how to restore the zune go to zune.net/support and press technical issues and a list with how to fix any problems will appear

Why doesn't anyone ever contact support - you know, Microsoft support- the makers of your player- that's what the screen is telling you to do. They'll probably tell you to go to Zune.net and run the Recovery tool.

The 30GB can be saved - read Microsoft's press release on Zune.net for instructions on fixing your player. It was hit with the so-called Z2K9 problem.

    i bought my zune while over in afganistan, it worked for over a year, while traveling to ft lewis, it was working fine then it just froze on a brother, i'm so frustrated i just want to throw it against the wall, and hope it will work then, i knew i should have invested my monies in a apple ipod, zune ain't worth it, i have lots of pictures of me while in afghanistan now lost forever,. **** zune

    ipods break just as much as zune's do and its more hassle keeping them synced with your pc as your need a cable unlike zunes wireless sync. If you don't want to lose your pictures then keep them backed up on your pc and skydrive.

Used a Micromax Mobile Charger on a Zune 120GB (gifted) unit and sparks flew and Zune stopped working what to do. I live in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Did the charger documentation say it was Zune compatible? If so, you might try contacting the charger's manufacturer, since it sounds like you fried your board.

I had a Zune 30gb and all my music is on my comp with the Zune software. I broke my Zune 30gb and bought a Zune 120gb; but, how do I set this new one up with the software so it can get all my songs?

You will have to re-sync it. You cannot just upload the "image" of your old Zune. You will have to treat is as if you never had a Zune in the first place. You CAN transfer your Zune's name and tags, but you can't have it automatically upload all of the old songs onto it.

Zune software won't recognize Zune when plugged in

Go to Device Manager by right-clicking on My Computer > Properties. Depending on what version of Windows you are using you will see Device Manager somewhere (might have to switch tabs).

With your Zune plugged in, you should see it under Portable Devices or Disk Drives or something similar (look under anything that could describe the Zune).

Next there are a few things you can try:

1) If the Zune is not installed (has a yellow ! next to it), right click and update driver, then tell it you want to specify where to look, and look in Program Files\Zune\Drivers\Zune\ . The file Zune.inf should be in there, that's the Zune driver.

2) If the Zune is installed, right click and select uninstall, then reinstall the driver I specified in step 1.

That should work, if it doesn't right click on the Zune in Device Manager, go to Properties and tell us if there are any error codes or if it says the device is working properly.

Trying to plug in zune but computer won't recognize it.

You might need to reinstall the drivers, or update your USB port drivers.

the problem with the zune is that its own by microsoft and you cannot sync music without the software however there is a zune forum that you can check out for advice on how to use the software better.. zune.net then check out the forums

Usb device not recognized when i plug in my zune

do you have the software installed? or a older version installed? if so that could be your problem with the drivers. try downloading the zune 3.0 software directly from the zune website instead of updating ,  here is the link to the download page
