Rca lyra rd1072a shuffle problem

Given a used rca lyra rd1072a purchased at a yard sale without any info /instructions.

question concerns shuffle function; there appear to be three circular "icons" connoting three (?) different kinds of shuffle function. So far I've inserted a 2 gig memory card, but each mode seems to cluster tunes; that is, I get songs from a to d, as it were, rather than a to z.

any info or advice most appreciated,

mgm

Pause function for RCA Lyra RD1072A.

This player does not have the true pause you are looking for. The iPod Nano - 2nd generation - has a true pause - once you hit pause it will stay paused and even go to sleep. When you revive the player it will leave off where you left it.

You need to switch the lock off on your LYRA. It is located on the back of the device between the pictures of a key and the word "off".

Turning On but Does not play

I used to own this mp3 and have had it for many years and it has froze up a few times but not like you describe it.

I can answer 2 and 3
2. I dont know what DSP stands for but it optimizes the sound for the genre you select. I personally liked the Rock DSP because it raises the bass.
3. Mode changes the playback mode dice is the shuffle and the circle thingy is if you have like 1 or 2 songs on it and don't want to keep pressing play after its done it automatically keeps playing until the battery dies. I personally don't use the circle mode because if you accidentally leave it on in that mode it drains the battery because it doesn't stop playing.

My rca will not play

Just download the software from the RCA Website and update the player, it's a SIGMATEL based player (Like the iPOD Shuffle) and the update would solve your problem.
Make sure to follow the instructions on the RCA website.
