Question about Roland Video Cameras

Open Question

Cannot transfer wav files from my computer to my ROLAND SPD-30 Octapad. The files show in my computer but come up blank when I open the usb load file in my SPD-30. Please help!

My module is from America, however I live in Australia. Don't know if USB flash drives have region specification? I've formatted my usb with the octapad but its still not working at all. please help, I need to transfer new drum sounds to my module as I am in a regularly touring band.

SOURCE: usb file transfer

The initial software for the 2488 had a bug that would not transfer tracks that had punched in audio correctly. The file would transfer with missing audio. This was corrected in a software update. The work around was to rerecord any tracks with punched in audio to a new track then export.

Once this is corrected on a machine normal transfers and exports can be used. WAV files can be exported but have to be copied to the FAT partition on the 2488 then USB to a computer for inport to a DAW.
The FAT partition comes up as a USB drive. Realize that there are several ways to backup and or export your songs, files or tracks depending on your need. IE edit in Protools, move songs to another machine etc.

hope this helps

SOURCE: file import

Try IMPORT instead of just trying to load them on your SPD-S.
The SPD-S uses some kind of its own file-format.

SOURCE: removing files

Hold down the "Wave" and "Setup" buttons at the same time while powering on the SPD-S. This will turn off the protection; you should now be able to remove the file.

To turn the protection back on, perform the same procedure again.

How to recover files from a crashed Compact Flash on my Roland SPD-S?

It's possible your CF card is full.
1. Connect the card to your computer as you have done. 2. Copy the files off it and save same them to a folder on your desktop.3. Right click only the Flash drive and navigate to "Properties" or "Get Info" if your a mac user.4. Take not of the file system it is currently using.5. Re-format the card with the same file system using your computer.6. Replace the card into your Roland SPD-S and Re-format using these steps: a. Select patch mode or wave mode. b. Press {SHIFT} and {SETUP} (CARD UTIL) c. Press the PAGE buttons to select "CARD FORMAT" then press {ENTER} d. A"[>] to format." indication appears. Press [>] e. A "format, sure?" indication is displayed. Press {ENTER} to start formatting.
7. Once formatted you can replace the card in your computers card reader and copy the files you backed up earlier onto it.8. Re-place the CF card in your Roland and it should work. If not then you may have a irreparable CF Card.

How to reset my roland spd-s

You can reset Roland SPD-S by using Roland SPD-S utility CD supplied with product.
If you can't locate (or lost) the CD that is included with the SPD-S which contains the factory data, you can download the file here:

http://www.rolandus.com/products/pro...37&ParentId=61

Click the downloads tab and select the "SPD-S Factory Restore Data" (PC or Mac) link.

I think it helps.

RC-50: Importing wav. files from computer to loop station.

Hi I just got a RC 50 and I face the same problem but looking the content of the data in the Roland folder (after you connect the USB) , I notice the format of the label of each sound's and I understood the problem. So , here it is . Before you connect to USB , you have to choose a patch , let say n.16 OK, now the audio file that you want to import into the data folder must be named in this way "016_1.WAV" ,the 16 refer to the patch number and 1 is the phrase number (if you want to put the audio file into the phrase 1 ,or 2 if 2 ecc.) now disconnect the USB .At this point you just have to increase or decrease the patch number just one time and go back to 16 (it has to refresh the patch info) and you'll find your audio file ready to use in whatever phrase you put it.
have fun

SPD-S.....Internal Memory Full

if you have the samples in .WAV then you will have to IMPORT them, because SPD-S can only play .SPD files (import will convert from WAV to SPD).If you have produced your samples with your SPD-S (via mic or line-in or PhraseMaker) then they are already in .SPD-format and can be assigned without importing.
In this case you just have to assign a sample to a pad, by pressing CARD ("card"=lit) you can assign samples from your CF-card to a pad.

Convert ".SPD" to ".WAV"-files ??

There is a lot of software on-line (some free) that can convert the most common files to whatever format you want.
However WAV files are rather large, also it's difficult to put extra information on them, such as album images. It would be much easier to convert the files to MP3.

Roland SPD-S Flash card error

The card I have always been using is now also suddenly giving this message. I found an old SanDisk 16MB and a 1GB SanDisk that works perfectly in my Boss 864 and they also give the same message. Trying to go into formatting brings the message "no card!"
