Sharp R-1874F Low Convection Temp

I can't get the convection temp to go above about 300 degrees.  I can get higher reading immediately next to the heat vents on the left side, but anywhere else in the oven stays much cooler.  Food is not cooking properly.  For example, a 6 lb ham, after 2 hours at 375 reached an inside temp of 70 degrees.  The oven never reached 300 degrees on an oven thermometer.

We have the 2 service manuals you need to refer to for this model and have uploaded them to our site here and here to help you.

You will need the
free Acrobat Reader to view or print them in case you don't have it.

The manuals have a safety info, disassembly info, troubleshooting chart, test procedures, part numbers, etc.

I would first suspect a bad thermistor, but it should be checked, as well as the line voltage at the outlet, etc.

The best place to order parts for this brand is Encompass (formerly Tritronics). Or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Is the sharp above range microwave model r-1871t recirculating?

According to the Sharp product site, http://www.sharpusa.com/ForHome/HomeAppliances/Microwaves/Models/R1871.aspx , the R-1871 is a convection and microwave oven. The manual describes using the convection oven feature on page 18 (page 20 of the PDF). The direct link to the manual is: http://files.sharpusa.com/Downloads/ForHome/HomeAppliances/MicrowaveOvens/Manuals/mic_man_R1872.pdf . The convection button is on the top left in the middle group of buttons. You use the numeric power level buttons to set the oven temperature. When you program convection cooking, the 1 button will bring the oven to 100 degrees F. The 6 button gets the oven to 350 degrees F.

I hope this helps.

Convection oven shuts off after a minute when trying to bake. Does this during Compubake also.. Does not preheat

Possibly a bad oven temp sensor. If the uinit doesnt read a temperature it will shut down to prevent a fire or over heating. The temp sensor is a thermister A temperature variable resistor that changes value as the temp changes. so If the main board doesnt get a response within a vertain resistance range it shuts things down. Sometimes since those parts are in the actual cooking area and subject to the heat and steam from cooking they can rust and break, or just get old and break. Or slam the door and break, you get the idea!!

I have a sharp over the range convection microwave modelr-1874F The convection works but the microwave sounds like it working, the turntable turns but it does not heat the food we tried unplugging it for...

Every time the microwave part of an oven do not heat it normaly means a faulty MAGNETRON (the device that produces microwves) unfortunately if it's the magnetron they are allmost as expensive as the oven it self, you could allways check for a burned fuse, (allways be prudent opening an applyance)

Good luck!

My Sharp microwave convection oven (R-967M / R96STM) cuts out during convection pre-heating and cooking, It appears it stops heating after 1 min. If the START button is pressed again the oven starts...

Also the fact it is a convection oven could mean the oven temperature sensor is not picking up the oven temp. it is not telling the machine it is there by the board seeing its resistance, the unit will shut off as a safety feature. The oven sees temperature by reading the value of a temperature dependent resistor. As the temperature changes so does the value of the component ( oven temp sensor) that way the unit determines the temperature inside the unit. Sometimes those sensors will break since they are in the area with the heat and moisture, they get old and break.

Just moved into a home with a Sharp convection/microwave R-1874F. The hi/lo baking racks are missing, can I purchase these somewhere?

Yes, this is a common item. Any appliance store that handles the Sharp line will be able to order the racks for you, if they do not have them in stock.
