I have a pretty ancient old fridge, it's a fridge/freezer thing, Lemair, model no. MXM1703, and I need to find a door seal for the freezer. I have been searching for ages, and I can't seem to find anywhere I can order a replacement, I can't even find a Lemair product support or anything. Does anyone know where I might be able to order a new one?

hello,
Your freezer need to recondition. the efficiency is lower due to some dirt accumulated in the condenser, Pls replace the suspected fault. If you can do it by yourself but better call repairman in your area to efficiently fix the issue.
may this help.

OPEN THE DOOR WIDE . YOU SHOULD SEE THE HINGES THAT SUPPORT THE DOOR. LOOSEN THE SCREWS THAT SUPPORT THE DOOR----JUST LOOSEN , THEN LIFT UP ON THE DOOR AND TIGHTEN THE SCREWS. NOW YOU CAN LET GO OF THE DOOR. I HOPE THAT WORKS FOR YOU . GOOD LUCK.

If after cleaning your condenser coils at the back or bottom, checking your cold control dial, checking your door gaskets for leaks using the dollar bill technique and looking for some resistence when pulling it out, checking for any obstructions, etc. nothing works, then you will need to have it service - most common problem is defrost timer - If your defrost doesn't cycle on, your evap coils will frost over excessively and you will not get sufficient cooling - you can usually rule this out by turning off your fridge and manually defrosting them with a blowdryer until they are frost free and running your fridge again for a few hours to 24 hours and check the temps again (during this time I'd set the dial to coldest) and monitor regularly, if your temps are getting colder and colder (fridge below 40F and freezer below 0F, then your problem is a faulty defrost timer - or one of its related components. (Remember to set your dial to what it was)
If not - then next common thing is door gaskets and finally a sealed system leak, maybe a tiny one and very slow progressing one,a lthough I would be inclined to think this is not it at this point, but if you get it serviced the first thing they should check is evap fan for proper operation, defrost timer, door seals and then compressor.
I hope this helps.

In short no as long as you get the correct seal type from a spares shop, or Whirlpool. Just make sure that it is straight and there are NO gaps or splits in it when you refit it. Usually these will come pre cut to size for the particular model of FF but you can also buy seal strip on a reel from many spares shops. Also when you have removed the old seal make sure that you use a degreasing cleaner to clean around where the old seal was located and make sure the area is dry before fitting the new one.
