I have an SR1000 SR182ONX desktop, but the front of my built in DVD/CD writer/player say SR192ONX. I can't burn or play DVDs. The current driver (TS-H552L) says it is not a writer. I need the correct...

It sounds like your operating system quit seeing your dvd/cd writer/player.
to check this locate mycomputer icon, or goto start and locate computer and right click on it.
a window will open, click on properties, then left click on Device manager you will see all the devices on your computer, and you should see DVD/CD-ROM drives in the list of devices. if you right click on this you have a choice of scan for new devices or Properties, if you scan for new devices chances are it will not find you dvd/cd-rom device, windows operating system very seldom does. so click on properties,
You will see several choices like reload driver, update driver, uninstall drive depending on your operating system. If you have the DVD/CD-rom device cd with the software driver then and only then you may uninstall the driver, so you can reload it to make the operating system see the device after you reboot the computer, then install the driver again... If you do not know what I'm talking about...Take the computer back to the repair shop and have them to the repairs to make the Windows Operating system see the DVD/CD-rom device.

Good luck...

My dell inspiron 1521 cd rom player is not working

The driver needs to be reloaded. It may still be in the Dell Utilities Program, the Dell Drivers File, or it can be downloaded from Dell's website. Go to Control Panel/System/Hardware Manager and drop down to CD Rom Devices. Right click on your product and click on drivers/update driver. If your device isn't listed there go to install hardware in control panel. You might want to swap the CD rom unit with a known good one. On three occasions I've had the CD Drivers be OK, but the Windows drivers were corrupted. Had to reload the operating system completely to make it all work again.

BIOS doesn't find SATA HDD

Hi fallacy,

If you have the system disks and you can boot from CD, I would just follow the prompts to reload the operating system. If the computer cannot see the CD or HardDrive you need to reset the BIOS setting to factory default settings and that should restore the drives to be used. Note: Hard Drive should be Primary Master and CD-Rom, (not DVD-Rom if you have one) should be Secondary Master. If you have a DVD Rom drive I recommend unplugging both power and data cords from it and making sure the CD-ROM is set to Secondary Master, NOT Secondary Slave.

This should allow you to boot to a CD and reload the operating system. Unfortunately your files are lost.
