Antenna in broke off the back of my Symphonic wf203. can I fix it myslef or need to bring it in. i need the silver box inside the tv/that is connected to a green board.
It can be fixed, it is called a tuner, if you can solder, you can order a new tuner from the manufacturer, and unsolder the old one , and solder on the new one

Hello, is the broken pin on the back of the unit or is it on the antenna cable plug? If it is on the unit and not the cable, you would most likely need to replace the connector that is attached to the PC board inside, which extends through the back of the case. This would require knowledge of soldering / desoldering pc boards, etc. and would be best performed by a "bench technician". There are no "user replaceable" plugs available.
The temporary fix for this issue never lasts and it will soon break again.I have seen some shops charge over 100 dollars to get the TV working again, but later the part breaks off again. The threaded part that is broke is from the tuner that is on the main board.
The only real way to fix the problem you have is to purchase a new main board.
Next time use a "slip" connecter (not a threaded one) on the back of the TV for the cable connection.
This is probably way more information than you need, but here goes. I
just had the same problem with my dads 2001 YUKON and wanted to put the
stock wire back. It was not easy, but it can be done.
Remove the glove box, and plastic side panel on the dash As you are looking through the removed area, there is a silver computer there, remove the bracket and move this computer. Behind the computer there will be the plug in for the antenna. One side goes to the radio, the other to the fender. Unplug
the cable, and tape/fasten a length of wire to it so that when you pull
it out, you have a guide to get the new wire back through the firewall. Remove
the old ant. and then take the guide wire and fasten to the new cable.
Pull this guide wire through while someone else is feeding from the
fender area. Replug it, and reinstall the computer and glove box door.
Also,
be aware and make sure that the new cable with stud matches the ant.
mast. GM changed the size of the stud (for unknown reasons)and you may
need to get a new matching mast. I could not use my old one
When you have your converter box hooked directly with coax to your tv, is your antenna then plugged into your converter box in the "antenna in" port? What do you mean by it doesn't work? Does it say no signal? If so, you just need a stronger antenna. If not, you may have a defective box, bring it back to the place you got it and see if they can help.
You should take this to a service shop to have it properly repaired. They may have to order a new tuner module if the circuit board inside has been damaged.
There are safety issues with grounding and AC mains isolation with this connector.
Servicing this can have serious safety issues. Take the set to a service center if you want it repaired.
For the average TV set, the tuner module is rather expensive. It can be in the area of about $70 to $120 depending on the model. There is about 1 hour of labour involved if there are no problems to change it.
You may be lucky, and the service tech may be able to fix the connector back to the tuner case or have a way to change it.
If the set is more than about 5 years old the tuner module may no longer be available.
