The please wait flashes real quick and then the TV stays on black, it use to flash please wait for a few seconds then the TV would kick in and the cable would boot up to watch. Now just sound from the cable and nothing was changed or unplugged.
Most likely you have a fault in the back light circuit. To verify this, turn on the set, when the screen goes black, take a bright flashlight and shine it on the screen. It may be easier to dim the lights in the room so that you can see the faint image on the screen. If you see the faint image, you indeed have a back light problem. You will need to get a diagnoses performed on the set to track down the problem
Before you start buying parts and boards try changing the channel as soon as you see the pls. wait message.

This unit needs to be tested in a service center because it has problems with the operation of the video card. This could be caused by a loss of voltage supplying the video card from the power supply card. Or a failure on the video card itself. You can purchase parts for unit from Best Buy Parts at !-888-237-8289 and get customer service at 1-877-467-8289. You should get an estimate from the service center, That should tell you which parts are bad and then you can proceed from there. If the prices seem too high for parts and labor from the service center, try buying the parts yourself and have them install them for you. You should try to check the prices on the parts , just to make sure you are getting a fair deal. You can do this by getting the part numbers, you should ask the service center to provide the part numbers needed if they need to replace the power supply board or video board and with your model number of television check out the prices and availability at the Best Buy Parts website.Of course if the television is still under warranty send it in for warranty service. Hope this helps you with your problem.

Start checking the cable connection to receiver, try moving or replacing cables.
If you have a surround with external speakers check surround connection cable and speakers wiring.
If the cables are OK, then the unit may be faulty.
In
that case the fault can be either the audio board (often audio circuit
is integrated on the main board) , or the sinput output signal board.
Also a contact on connection to internal speakers can give you same problem.
The power surges have probably blown the fuse in the power supply board. This may not be the only problem. If you are still under warranty, you will need to have it serviced at a service center. If not You will need to find a repair person or center to open the unit and test it for you. This television and all your electronic equipment should be protected with surge protectors. The reason is your power company has problem with power outages and this will damage your equipment. There is no built in self defense for this equipment due to the huge variants involved with power companies. You should call Insignia and ask them where you can find a authorized service center. You can call the Insignia customer support at this telephone number 1-877-467-4289. Tell them the model number of your television and the problem you have had with its failure to turn on.They will be able to help you find a service center to test and repair your television. I hope this information helps you with your problem.
