I hav a problem with the motor when turned on its ok after 2 mins the motor is loud and the spindel is really hot.The propeller is worn could that be problem?

Sounds to me like the peoblem is with the brushbar,try taking the brushbar out then trying it again if it's ok i would sujest the bearings on the end of brush are bad and need replacing..

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. My suggestion is that you contact the Kirby Co in Cleveland listed below and they will instruct you either to down load a owner’s manual or they will mail one out to you, there might be a local Kirby dealer in your area that might have a manual as well. SOURCE: smells (burnt rubber) like it's overheating when I vacuum

I would check the brush roller and make sure it turns good and replace the belt on it . When you smell burning rubber most of the time it is the belt .

I have my original instruction booklet that has approximately 8 pages of instructions on how to hook up the shampooer....just not sure how to post it here if i scan it for you. If you can tell me how to do that I would be happy to scan for you.

were you put the belt on see if any thing is rubbing against shaft.it may have been the belt,replace the belt and clean out the bab and also the floor brush.

I would say that it is definitely running backwards. I have a guide to replacing the power switch that outlines the reassembly of the Kirby and tells you which carbon brush wire plugs into which hole on the power switch. Each carbon brush has a letter (B or O) and the same two letters are on the switch to help you get the wires back on right. (the "B" attaches to the "B" and the "O" attaches to the "O") Here is the link to the guide and I hope it helps,...

How to replace a fuse a Kirby Ultimate G Series

There is no fuse in the Kirby. There are few things that you want to check:
1. Cord - most likely cause. It may not be damaged but wires inside may have snapped if it got between doors.
2. Safety switch inside - no easy way to check. We usually just put a new one in and see if it solves the problem.
3. Motor - very unlikely that something is wrong with the motor - those are very hard to kill.

Vacuum does not power on

Check to make sure the front nozzle is on correctly and also the bag base, make sure it is pushed all of the way in. There are safety switchs at these 2 spots and have to be engaged to work. You can't tell by looking at the cord to know that it is ok or not. Use a continuity meter to check that one side on the cord isn't open. Could also be a bad switch, carbon motor brushes not making contact. Armature bad in the motor. So there are several probables for it not working.
