Hotpoint 24in double electric wall oven 20RJ83D not heating, element is working

My Hotpoint electric double wall oven is from 1963. Label tag only has a catalog #20RJ83D, serial #PW0033764 and then non labeled value 327867. I would like to know which is the model # for reference. I can't find any corresponding manuals for this unit. The upper oven main element stopped heating, but the broiler element works. I swapped the upper and lower main elements and the upper oven still won't work but both elements work in the lower oven so it seems the problem isn't the element. What could be the issue? I was able to find one of the elements online. it is part #WB44X5043.

SOURCE: Electric Oven doen't heat

cdkd, there should be a TC0, on the back of the oven. Thermal cut out. You want to check to see if it is open. You will have to pull the oven out enough that you can remove the back panel cover and check it. The lower and upper oven should have one. It's a very cheap part to replace. If this TCO fails, no heat. Check this first before buying a new board. Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: Frigidaire double oven has one element not working in each oven

sounds as if perhaps there has been a thermal overload(switch) tha has gone bad, refer to part number 119 on bothe the lower and upper oven for refernce , you should have continuity trough the switches.

SOURCE: Heating element on upper oven of a wall Thermador Oven

The control switch may be bad on it. If there are 2 elements on the top, they both are not bad at the same time.Check to see if the wires have not burned off the control switch first. Check to see if your breakers are O.K. Turn them both(maybe 3) off and then reset.

SOURCE: fridgiaire Gallery series Model GLEB30T8CBA lower elements dont work

I replaced the relay board for the top oven (the one with the transformer) and it works properly now. My issue was only for the top oven so you probably have to replace both relay boards since both ovens have only the top element working.

318022002 is the part number for the relay board with transformer
318022001 is the part number for the relay board without transformer

Yes the one without the transformer is more expensive for some reason.

The boards are on the top of the oven, I was able to pull out the oven about 75% of the way out of the cabinet and easily get to the boards. Just unplugged the connections and plugged them into the new board.

To get the oven out there are two small screws that go into brackets inside the top oven door. Highly recommend taking the doors off the oven to pull it out, much easier to work with.

NOTE: On my old board I noticed one solder joint that was burned out and I since I already had the new board I just replaced but you might want to check that first and see if just a solder fix gets you working again before you spend $$ on a new board.

SOURCE: maytag electric oven - MER5770AAQ. lower heating element not work

Hi, Unplug the oven and remove the element to test it. Check the element and see if there is continuity. If the element is open, replace it. It can be bad even tho it doesn't appear bad.

I hope this helps you.

The main oven of my DY46 Hotpoint is not heating up

It will be the element that has gone, and it is easy to replace.
Remove the cover at rear of oven compartment, and you will see the fan element, just undo fixing screw, and replace element.

Hi, my oven HOTPOINT UY46X is heating but not getting red hot. My husband has checked the fuse. Do you have any idea wha his could be?

Sounds like it could be low power as in only getting 120 to the element instead of 240. I would measure the power to the element and if ok the element will need replaced. Eric

Oven not working

You need to detrmine if you are getting a supply to the oven element, if you are , then the new element is faulty, if no supply, then you are going to have to work back from source.

Oven not heating

Hello.
If the fan is working, but there is no heat, then it is the fan oven element that needs to be replaced.
It has nothing to do with timer on this occasion.
Remove panel at rear of oven compartment, there you will see the round element.
Undo fixing screws, and remove element, disconnect leads and fit onto new element, refit new elemrnt, replace cover, and job done!!!

Please leave a fixya rating for my solution.
Thankyou

HOTPOINT DOUBLE OVEN mODEL uy46 BOTTOM OVEN NOT WORKING CANNOT CL

Hi,
While it is flashing auto ,you will not get the oven to heat up.
You must press the timer buttons in the correcf sequence to cancel auto.Refer to user hand book.
If you suceed with this, and the oven still does not get hot, then the element has probably failed.
