Picture cuts out after three seconds

I have the EXACT same problem with my Sony SDM-P234 23" HD/computer monitor. I know it works (and it works great) with my DVico PCI card with my computer. It outputs in 480i, 480 p, 720p and 1080i with clarity on a simple indoor RCA HDTV antenna. I get the same quality (1080i) picture for the same three seconds as does lewy. I can also add that the digital coaxial output delivers 5.1 audio to my amp and it stays on even after the picture cuts out. Please help.....Comcast sendsa 'technician' out to service it and...well....did I say he's a 'technician'? He changed the box twice and says it must be my equipment. I guess its an act of God that it works with anything else.... I mean....its been checked out by a Comcast 'technician' after all.

Thanks, but, I have NO problem with the AUDIO. The PROBLEM is with the VIDEO. I don't need audio to make the picture do anything. I have ONE DVI and TWO HD15 inputs on my monitor. I can route sound through the monitor but I choose not to. It will never have any effect on the picture in the first place. Now, do you have any advice on the signal dropping out after three seconds forthe picture? Thanks in advance for any help you can dig up.

..........And, just to be perfectly clear, I DO have the Comcast box plugged directly into the monitor via a DVI-D cable that came with the monitor. It works fine with all the outputs mentioned in the original post. The fact that I DO ge the nice, pretty HD picture for the three seconds proves that the display is completely capable of displaying the signal. I called Motorola and they also agree with me that if the signal displays for three seconds, it can display for three hours just the same. The Motorola tech told me it must be in the Comcast programming they do after they receive the boxes. I hope this makes my question clear.

The problem is your cabling. Plug the cable from the back of the Comast box directly into the TV. Do NOT plug it into your AMP. See the link below for details. http://www.audioholics.com/education/frequently-asked-questions/why-wont-my-cable-box-video-work-with-my-receiver Good luck.

Hello,

I think the problem with your monitor is that, the picture board on the monitor is malfunctioning that is why it keeps going blank after a minute.

What you need to do is to replace the picture board on your LCD monitor, replacing the picture board will solve the problem, because the picture board on the monitor at the moment is bad and will need to be replace.

Replace the picture board and you will see that the problem will not repeat itself again.

Take care.

Sony SDM-HS74P/S 17 - Monitor won't stay on the right picture

When the screen turns black again take a flashlight and shine it in the bottom left hand corner where the Windows Start button is located. If you can see a faint image then your back light is failing. If that?s not the case the next step would be to attach another monitor to your computer to see if the problem disappears. If it does that points to the monitor, if it doesn?t then we need to take a look at the computer itself. Let us know what you find out and please don?t forget to rate this posting.
