Hello, your freinds tv has a power supply issue, it is the part that accepts incoming outlet voltages. replacing the power supply may solve this issue it is not garanteed becuase the spike or drop in voltage may have cuased other truoble in the other circut boards, the power supply couldnt handle the imediate drop in voltage cuased by a power faliure when you try to turn it back on the circut is detecting that it is not working properly so it will cause this safety shutdown it is protecting your tv from further damage.
since your area or building had the power outage this may have cuased the power supply fualt. check the voltage test points to make sure they are correct. exchanging it wouldn't hurt at this point. best bet is to get a service manual for it and be extra careful do not touch internal parts they still have stored voltages if your not electronically inclined or dont have any electronic skillz, have a service center come out and check it for you.

good luck to you guys, hope this helps

Our akai pdp6065ta 60" plasma hd tv will not turn

Try the power button on the tv. Your remote may have dead batteries. If no luck still, it sounds like your power supply unit has gone south. Check for warranty before attempting to repair.

Akai lct 2070 tv switch does not turn on tv-no sound-no tv

Most failures on this TV are due to defective power supplies. If the TV does not turn ON, you should replace the power supply.
Check this website to buy the power supply adapter and hopefully that should fix the TV.

Akai pdp5016h 50 inch

Thats a real tough call on your problem as the set acts like its working normal and then gives out. It could be any number of things, but mostlikely somthing is drawing too much power causing a protection fault hence the power off. These types of problems are very hard to diagnose as the stuff your looking at looks good, its not until it warms up (even being a few seconds or so) that they go bad. You can allways put a meter on the VA and VS to see if there is a flucuation in voltage or even a spike and that could tell you possibly which board is the culpret, but the best is to replace and not repair as switching supplys can be a pain.

Akai model pdp4249g

Hello drifter,The design of the tv enables the auto search to detect any input signal you have selected. It could be TV (off air, video signals etc) so just switch on whatever inputs to the akai plasma befote you switch the Akai plasma on and let it do the work for you. just relax and watch the tv. recap 1. switch on the input eg video deck, DVD, VCD, or satellite dish. 2. switch on your AKAI PLASMA and 3. wait for the akai to search for your input signals. TRy this simple procedure and if it doesnt work just post back the message. The DON

Power outage caused child lock, 2729 model tv

I'm guessing what you have there is an Akai CFT2791 made by Samsung? And a CFT2729 is not a good model number. You will need to get into the menu and then sub menus to change or turn off the child lock feature. The procedure is well described in the owner's manual and I have the manual. You can email me privately I'll send it to you... [email protected] Bill
