My washing machine makes a very loud scraping noise when the drum is moving,even when i turn it by hand,could it be the brushes?.
That's exactly the sound mine is making - scrape, bang, scrape bang. I have a post where I pulled the front cover and turned on the machine. Below the tub where the motor sits, it looks almost like its missing some bolts but it isn't. The barrel moves back and forth as a normal function, but mine leans forward and the metal "housing" where the motor sits scrapes the bottom of the machine like some kind of suspension or springs are not holding it up. If I hold the tub back so it doesn't scrape it is fine, but I haven't found out which part is the problem. Did you have any luck?

More likely there is a bra wire caught between the inner drum and outer tub, possibly wrapping itself around the element in the bottom.
