I will click the button 3 times to start the car and it will try to start itself (rev-up and all instruments light up) but then cuts itself off. I repeats this 3 times and then stops. I can't start the car with key or remote for an hour, after an hour it starts right up like nothing happened. I am sure it is some sort of security thing but I cant figure out why it is doing it. This has happened 2 times in the past 30 days, both times the buttons were only pushed to start the car, wasn't like I hit some random sequence of buttons. Any ideas what could be going on?
Thanks

is the car starting using the key? (manually), if so, then replace the remote battery, if problem still persists, then check the remote & the car's receiver...
or
the car's battery or some controller might be out-of-service!
new cars are electronically controlled, if any problem occurs, it jams the whole car, perhaps this might be your case.. For your Safety: it is recommended to ask help from Honda Service Centre!!

no - unfortunately "any mechanic" does not have the training to troubleshoot an alarm system, and a dealership does not work on anything aftermarket.
Your best bet is to visit DEI (Directed Electronics Inc.) website and find an authorized dealer near you... most likely a car audio shop.
Best Buy usually hires newbies as installers and they dont have much experience... Look for an independant shop.

The brain module cannot be repaired - the ignition and starter relays are integrated on the controller board. Since it is 2 years old - there may not be a replacement part available.
Good Luck!!

First things first. Check the fuse that powers your alarm system. If that seems to be ok then try the next simple option. Open the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable. Then turn the ignition to the start position for approximately three minutes. This will allow for any remaining energy to dissipate from your system. Now you can reconnect the negative cable. *** Before trying your alarm *** turn the ignition on and off 3 times quickly. Make sure you don't start the vehicle. Now you can exit the vehicle and try your alarm. FYI you can always stop at a nearby Best Buy store for additional assistance. They are usually very helpful. Good luck and best regards, Rico...
