Whirlpool calypso top load washer getting FL error message
I was washing pillows and one of the pillows ruptured allowing the pillow filling to get into the washer drum, now getting FL error message. Any idea what this means? i suspect the pump may have gotten plugged with the pillow filling.

I worked on one that would not spin. I removed the agitator and found a king sized pillow case. It is quite possible you have the same problem. I took some photos and posted em HERE and HERE
Fl means flood
you either have a bad flood switch or something is in the pump.
the pump is located under the washer
if you where to tip back and remove the 3 5/16 inch screws and look to the very right you will see the pump.
it could be these 2 things and or it could be something in your sump balls. which you would need special tools to gain access to.
let me know if this helps
FL=FLOOD CONDITION I bet I know what the root cause of the problem is. TOO MUCH DETERGENT. Why do I yell that? OK here is what happens. Suds make the computer monitor work overtime to wash the clothes. The the computer measures the amount of water being used. The computer is also trying to correct the suds problem by adding water during hissy-cycles. (I call em hissy cyles.) Solution: Clean the soap dispencer use HE soap and use the right amount which is:
“FL” (Over Fill) flashes The washer will beep every 10 seconds with no time-out. The pump will cycle one half minute on, one half minute off, until the overfill switch is reset or power is discontinued to the unit. Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display. Shut off the water faucets to the inlet hoses if water continues to flow.
If you let the tub fill, then put the pillows in, you may have caused the water level to overflow the outer tub somewhat. If you didn't smell smoke or hear any frying sounds, the motor is probably ok. Does the washer seem to operating normally?
The washer filled with too much water, causing a switch to trip. Then everything stops. It tries to drain during FL but if it can't drain, the washer powers down.Choose Drain & Spin to let the washer drain. Then you have to take the washer apart. Fix the problem. I personally can't tell you what to do because I don't own a Calypso.
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
Bad Pump
High Water Flow
