I had the same problem with my printer. On the back of the waste toner cartridge is a tab that sticks out. A photoelectric shine thru this tab to let you know when the cartridge is full. My photoelectric had gone out and was giving the same error message. I took my printer apart and cut the wires loose on each side of the photoelectric and shorted them together to complete the circuit. The only problem in doing this is you have to occasionally check the waste toner cartridge yourself to make sure it does not overfill.

SOURCE: WASTE TONER CONTAINER
The Counter for the Waste Toner has to be reset. You go into service mode by selecting Additional Function, then depress the 2 & 8 at the same time then the Additional function key once again. You should see a screen that says copier, feeder, etc. Touch " Copier " and then you should see a new menu across the top of the screen. Far right is " Counter ". Select it and then go to " MISC ", you should see Web, Waste toner, etc. Select Waste toner and select the " C ( clear ) " key and the counter should reset to all zero's.. Select the reset key a couple of times to get out of service mode. You may want to see what's all in service mode to get an idea of what's there. When replaceing time change items most likely there will be a counter to reset in the same way. Good Luck.

on one back-side corner. You need to remove at least two covers to make it easier. I suggest you to remove the back (the lower, big cover) and there you should be able to see the deposit. It must be close to the bottom, on one corner. Once you see it you may want to remove the cover that has it trapped (do not try to pull it towards you since you might break a locking mechanism it has) and then you will be able to easily slide the deposit out. Vaccum it and (Important) clean the bottle neck up with a wet rug. then get it back in making sure it follows its little path.
