My Mp3 player will go to the songs but won't play them. I can see my songs but they will not play at all. Recently i brought a stereo system that goes to the ipod but it could go to mp3 players also. I think that is the reason that my player went dead!!!!!!!! I advise anyone not to buy any stereo system that is not philips brand and chunk it in the garbage disposer and laugh your freaking head off. Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Ideally you should go to Philips and download the HDD1630/17b software and firmware and print off the instructions and redo your player

Reset the player push the power button while also hoding the volume up button. This resets all of the freeze ups that you may encounter and it doesnt erase all of your songs.

Need assistance regarding my philips gogear 6gb HDD/1630/17 mp3 player

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

Philips 1630/17 6gb mp3 player

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).
