Use a card reader. Since your computer has a USB port, you can get a card reader that reads SDHC cards. This is exactly how I do it on my computer.

Canon PowerShot SX130 IS Digital Camera's come equipped with the installation cds for their software. Make sure these are installed properly. The reason that the camera is stating "communication error" is that it cannot properly communicate with the computer, so make sure that your USB works properly (ie. no bite marks on the wire, it's not loose, you get the drift), that you're not using a USB hub (or if you are, it's capable of sending and receiving packets at a high speed) and that your camera is charged. Usually this can be resolved with changing the USB, so try another usb if you have one lying around, and make sure that it's connected properly to the camera and the computer.

It's very hard to troubleshoot software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. But why put up with the headaches of bad software in the first place? Forget easy share, just take out the memory card (SD card) from your camera and buy a SD card reader. Put this memory card in the card reader and plug the card reader in your computer USB. It will work like a normal pen drive and you will find all your pictures inside DCIM folder of your memory card. Copy all pictures in your computer HDD to be on safe side.
