Hope this helps you. This error is caused by either a correct or incorrect detection of air in the manifold. The steps below will clear the error condition, which should solve the problem if it is caused by an incorrect detection of air. If there really is air in the manifold, however, this procedure will not solve the problem and the printer will have to be serviced. Step 1 - Remove all printheads CAUTION: Do not touch the printhead tower. Do not remove the printhead handle. Keep printheads out of the reach of children. Figure 1: HP 14 printhead IDS Failure - c00042423.jpg 1 - Handle 2 - Tower

  1. Make sure the unit is plugged in and the power is turned on.
  2. Open the print carriage access door by lifting the handle until the door locks in place. The print carriage moves to the center.
  3. Wait two or three seconds, then unplug the power cord.
  4. Open the printhead latch. See the illustration below. Figure 2: Open the printhead latch
  5. Remove each problem printhead by lifting the printhead handle and pulling up. See the illustration below. Figure 3: Remove the printhead c00042425.jpg
Step 2 - Reset the internal error state NOTE: This step must be performed before the printheads are re-installed.
  1. Close the printhead chute.
  2. Close the access door.
  3. Plug the power cord back in.
  4. Turn on the power. The front panel should read No Printhead. Will damage Product. Insert [color name] [icon] printhead now . NOTE: The carriage may make a grinding noise when you turn the power on. This noise is normal.
  5. Open the print carriage access door by lifting the handle until the door locks in place. The print carriage moves to the center.
  6. Wait two or three seconds, then unplug the power cord.
  7. Open the printhead latch.
Before re-inserting the printheads, make sure all the electrical contacts have had at least five minutes to dry. Step 3 - Insert the printheads
  1. Place each printhead in its slot in the printhead carriage. The colored shape on the top of the printhead should match the colored shape on the proper slot on the printhead carriage.
  2. Press down firmly and evenly on both the front and back of the printhead, as shown in the illustration below. Proper seating is essential to making good electrical contact.
Figure 4: Seat the printhead Step 4 - Close and check the printer
  1. Close the printhead carriage latch and make sure the loops catch the hooks. See the illustration below. Figure 5: Loops catch IDS Failure - c00042432.jpgg src="/uploads/images/c00042432.jpg" alt="c00042432.jpg" class="h_mi" />
  2. Snap the latch into place.
  3. Plug in the power cord.
  4. Close the print carriage access door.
  5. Turn on the power.
  6. If the error clears, a message to align the printheads may appear on the HP Officejet D and HP Officejet 7100. Press Enter to align. If the error persists contact HP. Printhead replacement will not resolve this problem - the printer will have to be serviced.

New printheads and cartridges but not printing only blank sheets

Hi,

IDS (Ink Delivery System) failure is not related to the print heads at all. It pertains to that delivery system that lies between the Print head and the Ink Tank. Its a Hardware Issue, some ttime it gets fixed by resetting the printer.

Follow the below steps.

POWER DRAIN:-Turn off the printer, Unplug the power cable from printer and from the wall outlet.Press and hold ON buton for 30-60 seconds.

PARTIAL RESET:-Unplug the printer power cable while its ON, press and hold # and 3 button and connect the Power cord while holding.Wait untill the ON light flashes, then release the buttons.

----(for below reset cartridges must be removed out)---------

SEMI_FULL RESET:-Unplug the printer power cable while its ON, press and hold # and 6 button and connect the Power cord while holding.Wait untill the ON light flashes,or wait for 20 seconds, hen release the button. If the printer goes off dont worry release the button and Push the ON button.

FULL NVM RESET:-Take the Ink Cartridges out, Unplug the printer power cable while its ON, press and hold OK/ENTER button and CANCEL button and connect the Power cord while holding the buttons.keep Holding the buttons until the printer goes off ,release the button and Push the ON button.

(Notes - resets will take a while)

Thanks
