I have a toshiba tv that is only a few years old and it has started to show a black box in the center of the tv that comes and goes. It covers most of the tv but there is about a 3 inch border of the screen that still shows. The sound is fine and if you turn the channel it stays fine for a few minutes then the black box appears again. If you turn the volume higher or lower the black box disappears for a few minutes then returns.
Your closed caption feature is turn on and in the text mode. either turn off the closed captions or change it from text to cc1
