Purchased at Walmart as a closeout one of a Kind. worked well the first few months, now Works great for about 5 minutes sometimes will actually run a whole film. Problem-the picture acts like someone turned the Brightness up full blast-can see sort of the picture, but completely washed out. Occasionally will sit and run for HOURs without a hitch as a bench test sort of thing-then next time-great pic for 5 minutes, then too bright to see.
I know that someone must have a suggestion-I don't know enough of electronics to say, but it seems like something such as a leaky cap or ?
Of course, Wally world doesn't want it back-treated it as an "AS-IS" sort of sale-sneered at my suggestion that they return my money or exchange for something of value.

It sounds to me as if you are not using the correct video standard, IE: There are two or more principle "Standards" PAL, NTSC, & SECAM... now if the the input you provide is say, PAL and your player etc is set to say NTSC, the pic will play but ya won't have sound and the pic will have no colour.. ie: look sorta B/W. so try your "Settings" and make sure it is correct.

SOURCE: Problem w/ Company of Durabrand
Lenoxx Manufacturing went out of business in November of 2007. Walmart was aware of the situation when they were continuing to sell the products. Players can be exchanged at Walmart for equal or lesser value.
Some people have been suggesting a service called 1800customersupport.com to get the product serviced but this service has been reported as fraudulent as well. Ripoffreport.com has a thread about them as well as the Durabrand DVD players. If a company goes under the chances of a third party company servicing your equipment is slim.
Your best bet is to return it to your local Wal Mart and get a new one. Ripoffreport.com indicates that has been honored on a store by store basis.
