Projector turns off without warning after 30 seconds

It seems to work normally. It projects for about 30 seconds (after the warm up of the seconds). The fan seems to be working as I can feel cool are being pumped out and see it rotating. The projector is not warm to the touch after this. the air even coming out of the fan does not feel to warm either. the 30 seconds can range to 25 or so seconds.

Hi there

First make sure that your lamp timer & filter timer ( if available ) is reset.

If the problem still occurs , take a flashlight and check if your fans is running a normal rate when the unit is switched on.

It's easy to spot. If you can't spot it with the eye - take a thin piece of paper and touch the fans slighly - you'll hear the difference immediately - in wich case it woul need replacement

SOURCE: my projector turns on then off

Probably your projector filter is full of dust, and probably even the inside id full of dust. You need to clean the filter and you need to clean the inside. The fan starts coz the lemp inside cant get any air, as soon as you turn the projector on it gets overheated.
Go to a pro and let him/her clean your projector good, then it should work properly again. And make sure that you clean the filter at least 3-4 times per year.

Good luck

ASK Proxima C420 shuts down after 30 seconds. No indication of overheating or lamp problem.

Might be a problem with the video input. Try a different cable. If HDMI, you will need a really good cable for HDTV or 3D, and they are very expensive. My 12 foot cable cost $180.

Red warning light

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

  • Secure the lamp cover and the air filter cover of the projector body if the projector does not power on. Ensure that the power cable is firmly connected to the projector and an active power plug. If the projector was turned off and then on quickly--let it sit for 90 seconds before trying to turn it on.

  • 2
Replace the projection lamp if the projector will not power on or if the lamp indicator is flashing. Turn off the projector and let it sit for at least 30 minutes. Locate the lamp cover and remove or loosen the lamp cover with a screwdriver. Carefully remove the projection lamp from the projector housing using the handle, if available.

  • 3
Place the new projection lamp into the projector housing and secure it to the projector. Replace the lamp cover and reset the lamp timer. Power on the projector to ensure the new lamp is working correctly.

  • 4
Remove the projector from the enclosed area to allow air circulation if it constantly overheats. Place the projector into an open area and make sure there is no blockage for the ventilation holes. Unplug the projector for at least 45 minutes to allow it to soft reset.

  • 5
Clean the air filter to allow the projector better air circulation. Turn off the projector and unplug it from the outlet. Remove the air filter cover and use a vacuum to remove dust from the area. If the filter is unable to be cleaned correctly or is damaged, then replace it. Pull the air filter from the projector and place the new one in the now empty slot. Close and secure the air filter cover.

I suspect either your lamp is at end of life OR as one projector I worked on the heat sink for the DLP chip was totally occluded with dust causing chip to overheat.

Warning lights

Just so you know guys (and this procedure is not for the faint hearted!). I had the slow one second red warning light flash. I checked the bulb, which was find and I left it powered off for 48 hours. My projector is no longer under warranty and would have cost me over £300 to have it looked at. I ventured inside to inspect the boards, once I removed the main board to check the power supply I heard movement from one of the light ducts. It took me a while to removed enough to discover the fixing screw which holds the imaging cube in place (which is between the 3 light ducts and the projector lens) had come out (!?) and was rolling around inside the unit. This would also explain why sometimes I could not focus my unit properly. I remounted the imaging cube, put the whole thing back together and PRESTO! My projector is working again.

Sanyo Pro xtra projector - warning light

We have a similar situation with our Sanyo Pro Xtrax. It will be on for about a hour and then the "warning temp" light would come flashing red, and the project would turn off on its own.

Sounds like a simple problem to fix but don't ask here unless you plan on signing up...take your projector to a "real" professional who'll actually speak to you.
