Problem with navman 4150 fish finder

Could you please help. I have a Navman 4150 fishfinder that has been working great. The last time I used it the depth numbers were showing the wrong depth and were flashing between numbers and blank dashes. I have checked the transduser to see if it had been knocked up or if weed was caught around it but all looked okthe water I am using it in is salt water and very clear. The unit is about 3 years old now and has not had a great deal of use.Hope you are able to help. Cheers

My Navman 4150 was working fine and then suddenly stopped showing the depth and anything in between, just -.- appears on the screen. It also appears as -.- on the data screen. However, you get the full works when you put it into simulation mode. This indicates to me that the transducer has a problem. Does anyone know for sure or does anyone know how to check the transducer?

I have the same problem. My 4150 worked great for two seasons and now will only function in simulation mode.

    I have the same issue.
I have the 4150 with a through hull transducer. Recently I bought a transom mount transducer and the unit is working fine again.
This means my T/H transducer is broken/malfunctioning, or ofcourse something with the wiring, however that seems highly unlikely to me.

I am having the same problems with a four year old Navman 4500. I have gotten no help from Navman "customer service". If anyone comes up with a solution, I would appreciate being in the loop. I will relay any info I find as well.

    Thanks,

    Walt

I installed my Navman 4150 depth finder along with the Navman GPS unit when I purchased my Bayliner Trophy 20Ft. Offshore model. Everything was ok for one year and it has been downhill since then. Losing signal, unbelievable high depth ranges, blank periods, etc.. I now can't even get a reading tieded up at the dock. I am now giving up and shoping for a quality unit.. Cape Disappointment.........

I would like to find the navman 4200 fishfinder manual and information guide

Took me a few minutes.. They make it hard.. But anything for a fellow fisherman...

Its available in many languages so im giving you the link to main fisherfinder downloads on navmans website. Open the link and scoll down to discontinued lines first choice is FISH 4200 and choose your language and it will open right up if you have adobe reader for pdf files. Its 32 pages long so its too much to put the manual here.. good luck!!!

4150sx finder erratic depth

I had the same problem last time I was out in shallow water (in less than 2 metres of water) and I suspect that the problem was weed wrapped around the transducer but won't know for sure until I take it out on the water again. I had another problem re water temp which I'll enter separately.

Navman 4500 fish finder w/transom mount transducer

I finally got an email reply from Navman. If the unit is less than two years old (mine is not) they will repair it. If it is over two years old, or if you can't prove that it is less than two years old, you can ship it to them and they will repair it for the low, low price of 355 US dollars.

Pretty nice of them since it appears these units are highly problematic isn't it? I am wondering if they guarantee their fix, or just have you on the hook for another 355 dollars later.

Good Luck Everyone,

Navman 4150 fishfinder

Depth: Could be for a number of reasons, too deep for the sounder - check the manual for it's max depth. Dirty water, sounder unable to penetrate through to the bottom. Weed or other debris covering the transducer. Transducer on a swing mount & being pushed out of alignment then dropping back in once stopped.

Speed: Is the speed readout controlled by a GPS or paddlewheel? If it's GPS, check the power connection of the sounder, may be loose which would also cause the depth to 'drop out'. If it's paddlewheel, you're down to bad connections or faulty unit.
