I have a 2004 Sony Wega Trinitron KV-HS510 that will not turn on. When I try to turn on the TV it sounds like it will power up and then I hear a click, and the TV turns itself off. The Stand By Light is flashing 7 times then pauses and then flashes 7 times again.... Any idea what the problem is or what the cost will for getting it fixed as most in house techs are charging $100 to $150 just to walk in the door and tell me it doesn't work... Thanks, Andy

Hello,

7X blink is a generic Horizontal Deflection Stop code. There is a chip in the TV, IC8005 or 8006 if I'm correct, that routinely goes bad on these sets. It could be one of any number of transistors or IC's, but that one is usually the culprit.

The chip itself is around 40 dollars, and with labor, you're looking at about 125-175 average, barring any unforseen problems. That's in-shop. Tack on a service call charge if it is in-home (if anyone will do that for you).

Hope this helps you...

I have a sony wega trinitron, when the tv is turned on, (no visual, or sound) the red stand by light blinks 7 times, and you hear the tv click off? Please help

Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits.

Sony KV34-HS510

TV's always make a clicking sound as the Main Power relay turns on. If you are asking why it then doesn't turn on, it can be many things. The processor monitors a number of circuits and if something is amiss, it turns off. The most common failure is the high-voltage circuit and if the set is any where near 10 years old, I'd plan on replacing the flyback transformer as well as anything else it damaged while failing.
Another option is to wholesale replace the main board from an outfit like PTS Electronics at ptscorp.com.
Hope Ya Fix It!
