XBOX Live & Netgear Router Help!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a Netgear WGR614 router. I have my NAT set to open, 3 ports forwarded and set correctly for my XBOX 360, and I still don't have a solid connection when playing online. I get kicked out of rooms alot and even off of XBOX Live sometimes. Something tells me that it has something to do with my NAT still because I can't always connect with other people. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need a excellent signal to your Xbox. Xbox requires a constant connection. My son as an Xbox and we had to run a wire connection to the Xbox no problems after that. Or you need to move your wireless router to the same room as your xbox to get a stronger connection.

Set NAT to open for Xbox only, not computers

This is entirely not the issue for NAT setting's . In this case we have to open the port numbers on the router to get the successful connection test.
The port numbers will be given by the Microsoft support services . Once we have the port numbers and the Ip of the Xbox following steps can be taken to enter the given numbers:-
1)Open the router gui with 192.168.1.1 or http://routerlogin.net by typing it in the address bar for the user name as admin and password as the word password only.
2)On the Netgear smart wizard .left hand side you will find a small blue/purple column with different categories , look for the one that says advanced and click on port forwarding/port triggering and select port forwarding from there and click on Add custom service from the bottom .
3)A new screen will appear which will have the following options:-
Service name:-
Service type:-tcp , udp , tcp/udp
Starting port:-
Ending Port:-
Server Ip Address:-(enter the value in range) and apply the setting's.
The value for the starting and ending port will be same i.e if suppose we have a port no. 80 for the ip:-192.168.1.15 and tcp as the service to open then this is how it will be done:-
Service name:-abc
Service type:-tcp
Starting port:-80
Ending Port:-80
Server Ip Address:-192.168.1.15

Go for the connection test after forwarding all the port numbers.

    Nat ports

Go to the port range forwarding page on your router's setup.
It will ask you for the specific port. (88,3074) Enter them in in their own seperate sections. Then select either UDP of TCP for each. Then save the settings and you should be good to go.

    NAt Settings

Are you sure that you are forwarding the correct ports? I also have xbox live, and it seems the closer my router is to my xbox, the better the NAT gets. (wierd) Honstly though, unless you are encountering some extreme lag, I wouldnt worry about it.

How do i get NAT OPEN

To get the NAT open, you have to forward specific ports. If you are doing this for xbox live, then call microsoft and ask for an "agent." Tell them that when you test your xbox live connection, your NAT is strict or moderate. They will give you a specific port to open. With that information, You go to your router's setup, and look for port fange forwarding. Enter the information given and save it. For further assistance, call netgear's help line and they will help you.

Xbox 360 live and netgear WGR614

Down load the new firmware and install it in your router.

    http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/WGR614.asp

Use UPnP. If your router supports this. Turn it on. The router will work out the ports it needs to open for Xbox live. If your router does not have this feature, check the manufacturers website for the latest firmware. (also make sure portforwarding and/or DMZ is turned off as they interfere with UPnP)

Nat settings on netgear wgr614 wireless router

    Hello --

Most NAT settings can be found, on modern routers, under the WAN setup of the router interface. Normally, it is set to Secured with the option of setting it to Open. Click Open and apply changes, giving the router a moment to reset the software and re-broadcast transmissions.

This comes secured for public consumption because the normal consumer would not create a WAN (wide access network) at home. However, gaming consoles (PS3 and Xbox 360) require this because of the P2P hosting that most online multiple-player games require. Setting it to Open full-duplexes the transmissions without restriction (since gaming console connections are "supposed" to be secure anyway).

After you've set the NAT settings, restart the gaming console, test the 'net connection and confirm it is reading your now Open NAT settings.
