Have cdrom that doesnt play dvd on all in one

Pull out your manual and make sure that it can play all types of movies. I am guessing that you are putting in BluRay movies and it only accepts regular DVDs

are you trying to open dvd files? if yes try other known good dvd if it opens. if not try cleaning you dvd drive with a cleaner.
are you trying to open dvd movies? if yes, have you tried playing dvd in your laptop before in case you haven't tried it yet you need a dvd player program try downloading cyberlink powerdvd. if you have tried it before but not its not working now. check what are the programs that you have installed lately maybe it has a conflict with the dvd player software that you are using try opening the program manually in start menu manually open the dvd movie.

if it is a video cd - it can be opened from Windows Media Player, Winamp, Nero Vision and many other video players available on net. By inserting the CD inside, windows will open a dialog box asking you, with which program you want to open it - just select the program and press ok.

But for playing any video cd manually, if it is a VCD - open CDROM from my computer - Open "MPEGAV'" folder - and play any file with extension ".dat"

For playing Video DVD - Open CDROM from My Computer - Open "Video_TS" folder - Play any file which is having extension ".BUF".

OK, that is EASY. That basically means the optical drive (cdrom/dvdrom drive) does not "see" anything in it. If you do not have a disc inside it during the diagnostic, open the drive and insert a disc, then click RETRY. HOWEVER, if you DO have a disc inside and you get an error, that COULD mean you have a scratched or damaged lens in the drive, OR, you could have a bad disc in it. Try it again with several other cd discs. if they all fail with the same error, that means the drive needs to be replaced. Good luck. :)

What operating system do you have? If you have Vista, you may be missing the codec you need. I'd recommend getting Intervideo WinDVD or something similar for watching DVDs. You'll have much more control and a better viewing experience than using Microsoft's crappy player.

I would say it is the program you are using try using a different program to play movie e.g-

windows media player or DIVX player

if that doesnt work use this program to see if your video drivers are up to date:

Also the disk may be damaged

get VLC media player.

the XP driver really should work appropriately. I might assume that the drive is damaged (which happens to me frequently with older DVD drives).
