Boot into Safe Mode by pressing F8 during boot. Right click My Computer and Manage. Check for hidden devices ubder View and delete all CD drives. Reboot and Windows will auto install.

You have a bigger problem if it fails to install and work. Then I would try re-seating the drive physically. GL

Dell inspiron n 4010 hangs often

I suggest you open the laptop, and clean it out first. THEN go on with the diagnoses.

Dell Support > Inspiron n4010 Notebook PC > Service Manual,

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/insN4010/en/sm/index.htm

1) FIRST remove all power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger) and Battery.

2) FOLLOW Anti-Static Precautions.

Anti-Static Precautions:
Your body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit), the delicate hardware components on a computer.

Relieve your body of Static.

You should use an ESD wrist strap, and connect it's alligator clip to a good ground source.
This is an example of an ESD wrist strap,

This pictorial guide for disassembly of an Inspiron n5010, should help also.

The screws, and cables, etc., are in a different place, but disassembly is still the same.

Use a can, or two, of compressed air for computers.
Also you may wish to use Q-tips, and a soft small brush.
(Makeup brush? )

DO NOT use a vacuum!!!!

A vacuum creates Static electricity.

Input your computer's model (inspiron n4010) and the operating system. You'll see all the drivers including the ones that pertain to flashing the bios. Download and install it.

Hello, My Dell inspiron Laptop is getting overheated. I think the fan is not switching ON. Laptop just switched off while working. Help!

Could you normally hear the fan but cannot hear the fan now? If so that is definitely a hardware issue and you will need to send it into Dell or take it in to a PC repair place.
Other than that, make sure you are setting your computer on a flat hard surface, like a desk obviously. If you were to for example set your laptop on the couch and use it, the couch makes the laptop heat up a lot faster.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi I have an Issue with my display on dell inspiron 14R. It doesn't display in the laptop but when I connect it to the external systems with HDMA cable it works. how to resolve this issue.

Click FN+F6 or F7 (whichever has the monitor icon on the F# Keys).

This would toggle the view between your computer and the external display.

Thanks

The laptop was operating normally and some of a sudden it turned off. I haven't been able to turn it on again

Normally this happens due to the overheating of the CPU. If it is not the case then try recovering using window disk. Sometimes virus cause such problems.
