MY HL-r4667w makes buzzing sound when turning on, then shuts down and restarts itself but never actually gets going. ???

I replaced the bulb less than a year ago when the first one died. That worked great. I do not really want to dump a lot of money into this TV when brand new, larger LCD and LED are less than 2k now. What should I do. Can I test while it is off? Are there ways to test what is working and not working?

SOURCE: samsung DLP TV won't turn on

This sounds to me like one of two possibilities. First, check your ballast. If you're going through bulbs faster than you think you ought to be, you may have a ballast that is overloading. Its the 3" x 8" circuit board that connects directly to the bulb. They are plentiful and often cheap. Thats what I'd try first. If that doesnt' do it, I would invest in a new power supply board. That the board that the tv power cable hooks directly in to. This should give you a start, Comment back if you still need further help. Good luck.

Hi,

Samsung is known for bad color wheels and for what you describe it surely sounds like the color wheel bearing if going out on you,you will need to replace the color wheel you can find more help @ fixyourdlp.com and if you want to buy the part you can find it @ http://www.discount-merchant.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=color%20wheel?click=52978 or @ http://www.samsungparts.com/search/search.asp , just so you can be 100% sure you will need to get the part number from the actual color wheel that you already have,

Buzzing noise on that model is usually caused by a fan or the color wheel.

My lamp burned out and I got the replacecent lamp from samsungparts.com, but the housing didnt fit into the tv. So I put the new lamp in the old housing, after verifying the lamp was the correct part...

According to an aftermarket lamp manufacturer, there are 2 different lamps (1st and 2nd generations) available for the Samsung HL-R4667W, but only one of them will actually fit. The lamp that is commonly associated with this model, BP96-00826A, is used in housing that has a silver bump protruding from the opposite side as the front face of the bulb itself. The other type, BP96-01073A, is placed in a housing that has a smooth back face and a overall larger bulb. I can verify that the HL-R4667W that I own seems to have the second type of lamp.

As long as you didn't open the housing of the lamp that you purchased to try to install the lamp in the housing that your TV came with, you might still be able to request an exchange from samsungparts.com, given the circumstances.

When you turn on the TV it makes this buzzing sound like something is spinning inside the TV. After a while the TV cut off on its own. It has a new bulb in it.

check the fan that cools the bulb. if its rubbing something that would make the buzzing sound, and if its not cooling the bulb it will shut off when it over heats.

Projection bulb replaced but contiue to have flashing display lights and buzzing

It seems that you might be having an issue with the ballast in your TV. This a very common part to fail with this brand. It's the board in charge of sending energy to the lamp so it can light up, if it's faulty, this is what will happen, sometimes it can even cause the bulbs filament to shatter.

When I power the TV on there is no picture, the lamp light is flashing, and there is a squeaking noise coming from there rear of the TV. It kind of sounds like a wheel turning and rubbing against...

The squeeking sound could be the high voltage trying to strike the lamp, it will try several times to strike the lamp then shutd down. Take the bulb out and see if it s blown. Even if it is not blowen it sounds like you have a bad bulb.

Bightness Change

It sounds like your lamp is going bad. The lamp part number is listed as "lamp code" on a sticker located on the left side of the set. Use this number to grab a replacement off ebay.
