Denis, by default laptops usually output only to their own lcd panel. There must be a key combination on your laptop wich rotates output in 3 steps: lcd panel only, lcd + TV (projector), TV only. The key combination uses a special Function key (FN) usually blue (found near left Ctrl key)with one of the numeric keys. So, first make sure your laptop output is correct and then try input key on your projector.

According to the manual, you need access to the RESET button, the left and right arrows and the ENTER button to clear the counter. Press the following in order for less than 5 seconds each:

Why won't my Sony projector turn on? Projector Not Turning On

Ensure the projector is properly plugged into a working outlet. Check the temperature lights to make sure the device hasn't overheated and shut down. If you are using a remote control to turn on the projector, check the batteries. Be sure all of the projector latches are closed.

The projector VPL-VW12HT starts well - but after 5 minutes it shuts itself off. The lamp light/cover indicator comes on. Is it a heating problem or a lamp problem?

I would first ensure all the filters have been cleaned out.
Check the seating of the bulb (by carefully removing it and putting it back in).
How many hours are on the bulb life meter, it could be bulb is getting to the end of its life.

Hi there

Replacing the lamp won't make any difference at all.

If you have checked the fuse on the Powersupply Board and it tested ok , then the whole Board will need replacement.

Sony VPL-ES1 projector

Hi Max

Is there any power on the unit at all ?

i.e. Does the LED's on the unit indicate that it is in stanby ?

If it isn't then it could just be a fuse that has gone on your Powersupply.
