Laptop Screen is blank or black when I turn on the power button. Most times you could hear the start up screen where the Windows 7 login page shows up your user accounts in the background but the screen is completely black. Brought it to a computer shop where they said the problem was the RAM. However, even after the RAM was replaced, the issue is still the same. Now the technician suggested that it could be the motherboard. (I really hope it isn't). Could this just be a BIOS update or Driver update issue? I really need the laptop for the requirements we have, so any help you could suggest, I would be very welcome. The Laptop was bought 2 years ago, and this is the first major issue I had with it so far.
So, if you can hear startup sound then motherboard, RAM and HDD is OK! Try to connect it with external monitor, if it's working on it, then problem in LCD, LCD light or LCD cable. If not working with external monitor then it is video card problem, if card is integrated then you need to reball or change at all south bridge on the motherboard, if video is as module card then just replace it with compatible one.
If LCD cable - disassemble laptop to get LCD cable and test each wire with any multimetr with sound beep and replace it if needed.
If LCD light - try to take LCD screen under good lamp then power on laptop and carefully look to dark screen if you see very dark Windows boot screen then you need to disassemble LCD housing, disassemble LCD, remove and replace LCD lamp with working one.
If all this cant help, then you need to replace LCD at all.

SOURCE: Hi, I have a problem with my laptop(2 yrs old).
Sounds like a software error. When the screen has been blaxk for a minute or two try hitting control+alt+del and use the task manager to start the process explorer.exe if so then there is a registry or windows error and needs to be repaired.
