How can I get this to work on windows 7

The old CPU (Processors) were not 64 Bit advanced devices and thus they cannot accept the newer OS (Win8). XP was the last OS they were capbale of working with.

did you upgrade from vista to windows 7 or did you install a new copy of windows 7? If you didnt upgrade then your old files will be saved in a folder called windows.old

Did you install Windows 7 or is it XP, which is a discontinued operating system?

Blue screens are less prevalent and even nonexistent on Windows 7 vs. Windows XP.

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Since this software was designed to work with Windows XP or earlier. It may not run in windows 7 normally, but you can run this application in Compatibility mode.

Windows 7 comes with Program Compatibility troubleshooter, using which you can run older programs in compatibility mode.
To run the Program Compatibility troubleshooter

1. Open the Program Compatibility troubleshooter by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel.

2. In the search box, type troubleshooter, and then click Troubleshooting.

3. Under Programs, click Run programs made for previous versions of Windows.

4. This would scan the computer for incompatible applications and list them, keyboardworks .

5. Click next. this will try running in Windows XP mode.

6. If sucessful save the setting and u should be good to go, else try installing this application in Compatibility mode.

7. right-click choose properties on setup.exe

8. click on compatibility tab. put a check on run this program compatibility mode for and choose windows XP

9. put a check on run this program has administrator. cluick apply and ok and install this application.

10. run the application, if it does not work repeat the steps 1-6.

You should look for new driver on the internet. driver for windows 7 or maybe vista, it might work. Windows XP needs different driver then windows 7.

A bit Late in the day but if you install the driver for a Canon BJC-2000 it works fine, at least in BW. I haven't tried it in colour

You can install windows XP, but you will need to find the drivers to your soundcard, dvd driver etc.. for it to work properly as new. After installing XP you can get them here at the Sony website. Install each driver and make sure it was configured properly.
