Panasonic 50? Plazma TV TH 50PZ 800A + Sony Model DAV ? SB 500W

Hi there!

How do you get the DVD player SOUND to play through the TV speakers?

I have a new Panasonic 50” Plazma TV
Model TH 50PZ 800A

I have connected a Sony Home Theatre System to it.
This is a DVD player and a speaker system.
Sony Model DAV – SB 500W

If I have a TV programme on, I can play the sound through the TV AND the Sony speaker system. Which is fine.

If I play a DVD in the Sony, the sound system plays the sound and the TV shows the vision. However, the TV speaker system cannot be used.

A good part of the Sony remote doesn’t work as I am not using a Sony TV, so there are compatibility problems. This is to be expected, so not much I can do about that.

My questions are as follows:

1. When playing a DVD from the DVD Theatre System, is it possible to get the sound playing through the TV speakers? In other words, the sound goes through the Sony Theatre System AND the TV speaker system?

(I understand someone might say Why would you do that? My answer is, when a TV programme is on, (ie. I can play sound through BOTH systems), I have found being able to use the TV speakers can sometimes provide another dimension to the sound. Having this extra facility would be nice when using just the DVD player).

1. How do I wire it up for that?

I’m at [email protected] or
dsemmm at gmail dot com.

Thanks for reading.

You will need to wire the DVD player into the TV not the home theatre

That is possible
the home theater has so many in puts on your dvd and out puts.
there is a way
1 you can buy a vedio/audio converted to rf signals, this will mean both signals entering tv using rf.
2 get your vedio out from dvd and audio out, feed that to a converter, vedio in and audio in okey

SOURCE: Sony Model DAV ? SB 500W Home Theatre System

Please check at rear of TV for Digital Optical IN port as home theater should have optical out port at rear. If you got any optical in port in TV, just connect optical wire between TV and home theater.

2nd option is check Line Out pins at rear of home theater system, if found, hook red-white RCA cable there and put it to same input in TV where you hooked Video (composite or component) cable.

Let me know the results to help you more.

Panasonic TV does not play through surround speakers

so it is a connections problem I think. Check if video and audio cables are properly connected. Use color codes as your guide. Also from menu check if all settings are ok. Good luck

Our Sony c 770 no longer plays DVDs or Cds but it still works as a receiver. Can we connect a DVD player to it and have it come thru the 5.1 speaker system?

Hi,
Yes, tis unit has 2 video inputs at rear so you can connect any other dvd player sound (analog or digital) to get 5.1 channel surround sound from DAV-C770 speakers.
Click Sony Support to download user manual copy of DAV-C770 that has more details about connection setup.
Hope this info will help you.
Thanks.

Surround sound hookup question?

It looks like all you'll need to do is hook up audio out from DirecTV to audio in on the surround sound system. Sony has an interesting hookup recommendation guide on the product support site:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=DAVC700&LOC=3

That should give you the connection options. The short answer, though, is to connect the best audio out from DirecTV to an audio in on the surround sound and then choose that option in the surround sound system when you want to watch TV.
