SOURCE: ge top loader washer agitator does not work

To check the agitator. Start the washer into wash cycle. Once started Push down on top of agitator. If it catches some times or all of the time when pushing down, then then doggets are worn, under the agitator. You`ll have to remove the agitator to see these. If by pushing down on the agitator, nothing changes, Then you probably have a transmition problem. Check this and let me know what you find.

SOURCE: Kenmore washer will not spin or drain water, agitate works fine

Sounds like a lid switch. there should be a hole under the lid on the right side about the size of a dime. Make sure the plastic "flipper" is inside and "clicks" when you push down on it with a pen.

SOURCE: Washer will not Spin during SPIN CYCLES

Check the lid switch. Through out time the lid switch housing can come apart from years of heat and cold. When I checked mine, I found the glue deterriated and the housing came apart. What I did to fix it is I zipped tied the housing together and did a functional check and it worked.

Have Error Code E20 - won't drain. How do I approach?

The diagnostic test is used to check individual component function only. TO START THE TEST: • Turn the Program Knob to the start position, Spin Only. • Press Start/Pause to start the cycle and save it. • Press Cancel to stop the cycle and turn off the LEDs. • Press Cancel again to turn on the LEDs. • Within 5 seconds, press and hold the Options and Start/Pause buttons until LEDs start sequentially chasing, then release buttons. 1. All the LEDs will sequentially light. Pressing a button below a light cluster will light all the LEDs in that cluster at one time to confirm functionality. 2. Turn the program knob (1) click clockwise from the start position. The hot water solenoid will activate and hot water should enter through the detergent compartment. 3. Turn the program knob (2) clicks from the start position. The bleach water solenoid will activate and cold water should enter through the bleach compartment. 4. Turn the program knob (3) clicks from the start position. The bleach and the wash water solenoids will activate and cold water should enter through the softener compartment. 5. Turn the program knob (4) clicks from the start position. The door lock solenoid will deactivate and the loading door can be opened. When the door is opened, the drum light should turn on. 6. Turn the program knob (5) clicks from the start position. The washer will fill and tumble. Once tumbling has started, the Boost Heater (if so equipped) will turn on. 7. Turn the program knob (6) clicks from the start position. The drain pump & door lock solenoid will activate and the washer will operate in high spin. 8. Turn the program knob (7) clicks from the start position. The control will signal the last error code. Exiting Diagnostic Mode There are two options for exiting theDiagnosticTestmode and returning the washer to normal operation: a) Unplug the power cord, wait 5-8 seconds, then reconnect the power cord OR b) Turn the program knob clockwise 2 or 3 clicks after the start position. Press Options and Start/Pause buttons together for a few seconds until wash cycle LEDs appear.

I have a Sears Kenmore washer that sometimes does not spin in the spin cycle and sometimes it does. The timer progresses to stop, but clothes are still dripping wet. Resetting timer from spin usually...

The transmission in this machine is worn and is not shifting correctly. Understand that after the aggitate cycle, this machine should go into drain cycle without spinning and it should drain for about 1 minute. Then it should kick into spin cycle after it has emptied all the water. What is happening is it is (like skipping) the drain cycle and going directly into spin with water still in it,,, so the spin is slow as it is trying to empty and spin at the same time,,, thus the clothes do not spin out correctly,,, when you reset the spin, you actually spin all the water out the second time around.

Code error problem

THIS IS TEMPORARY FIX, NOT A TOTAL SOLUTION. jUST TO GET WATER TO DRAIN AND RESET WASHER. , WITH WASHER POWERED OFF, PUSH AND HOLD START BUTTON FOR 4 SECONDS, RELEASE FOR 4, PUSH FOR 4 RELEASE FOR 4 UNTIL THE FRONT ALL LIGHTS UP AND DISPLAYS 88. sOON YOU WILL SEE YOUR CODES FLASHING, PRESS START BUTTON AS MANY TIMES NEEDED TIL NO MORE CODES FLASHING. tHEN WASHER WILL GO INTO DIAGNOSTIC TEST. aFTER THAT I DO NOT KNOW, BUT YOU CAN WASH 1 LOAD OF CLOTHES AND THEN PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC TEST AGAIN. THAT IS WHAT I AM DOING JUST TO HAVE A WORKING WASHER TOO MUCH TO FIX FROM WHAT I AM READING, SO GOING TO BU A NEW ONE ANYTHING BUT KENMORE. gOOD LUCK, HOPE THIS HELPS FOR IMMEDIATE RESCUE.

Spin cycle doesn't cut in

turn program knob to spin and hit start then hit cancel within 5 seconds hold down options and start/pause button this will put you in the self daignostic test
Turn the program knob (1) click clockwise from the
start position. The hot water solenoid will activate
and hot water should enter through the detergent compartment
Turn the program knob (2) clicks from the start
position. The bleach water solenoid will activate and
cold water should enter through the bleach compartment
Turn the program knob (3) clicks from the start
position. The bleach and the wash water solenoids
will activate and cold water should enter through the
softener compartment.
Turn the program knob (4) clicks from the start
position. The door lock solenoid will deactivate and
the loading door can be opened. When the door is
opened, the drum light should turn on.
Turn the program knob (5) clicks from the start
position. The washer will fill and tumble. Once
tumbling has started, the Boost Heater (if so
equipped) will turn on.
Turn the program knob (6) clicks from the start
position. The drain pump & door lock solenoid will
activate and the washer will operate in high spin.
then on the last turn it will give you the other error codes it has that code is giving usually is caused by a different code to clear the codes
.
• Turn the program knob clockwise 7 clicks from the
Start Position. The control will signal the last error
code.
• Press and hold the Options and Start/Pause
buttons for 3 seconds. The code will be cleared. you really need to clear that code first to do the test but it can be done in the daignostic test skip the rest first go straight to the 7 clicks and clear the code but dont open the door during the test otherwise it will give that code after you get it cleared go to the spin spot on the knob and keep turning clock wise to go through the test but give it at least 3 seconds for each test then it should display a different code and what ever it is email me and i can help you out at that point [email protected] i have alot of experence with appliances

WE HAVE A GE TOP LOAD WASHER, MOD.#WCSR2070T6WW. RECENTLY, IT WILL GO THRU ALL CIRCLES BUT WON'T SPIN. IT STARTS TO, BUT WITHIN 5 SECONDS, YOU HEAR A CLICK AND IT STOPS SPINNING. I PULLED THE FRONT PANEL....

  • it could be a problem with the water level switch; this switch keeps it from spinning until the water has drained.
  • or the motor itself could be bad.
  • the click you hear is probably the start switch on the side of the motor kicking off due to the motor pulling too many amps.

Spin Cycle

you can check the direct drive coupling between the motor and the transmission, if the coupling is good and not broken then you have a transmission problem
